Good place, a bit bleak, not many trees, not pretty. Mostly intermediate but Caron & La Masse are excellent. Access to 200+ lifts. It's quite far "up valley", so it's the hardest of the three main valleys to get back to.
Of the resorts you listed it's closest to Tignes Le Lac in feel.
If you want to spend two weeks and ride pretty much new stuff every day then it's the right ski area. Personally I prefer other locations in the area, but you have to try them all and that's a good place to start. |

there;s some ace bits in val T but i think you're better off staying in meribel or somewhere else on the piste map, the tricky bit with val t is getting to the left side of the piste map cos you have to take the same route every time and it really limits how much time you can spend in say courcheval, in this sense it's pretty different to tignes. Also because thorens is so high the vertical isn't that great from peak back down to resort, anyways i think you'd get more of an all round good trip if you try meribel
anyway there's still some sick riding to be had, i've got mates who love it there |

For the all-round experience I like Val T - it's got the coolest aprés of the 3 Valleys (Meribel=Jack Wills, Courchevel= Posh Spice) and the runs aren't all that bad. Then again, I rode it in perfect conditions. Mrs dants is an ex seasonaire and has reservations about its susceptibility to whiteouts and the ease with which it can get cut off from the rest of the area in bad weather. |

Val T good points are that it's high so it's cold enough to snow when possibly other places aren't. It's part of the Three Valleys so it's in a massive area and it's gto some pretty expansive off piste - if you know where to look. Downside - I agree with Mrs Dants, it get caught in the cloud more than the rest of the three valleys and can be very windy and cold especially on the long Moraine chair lift. I prefer the Couchevel Valley (but I would say that cos' I live here ) as it keeps it's snow better than Meribel and isn't as affected by bad weather, like Val T. Also it has more tree lined runs cos' it's a bit lower. I hear Val T is open in about 10 weeks - hope to be there for opening day, it was excellant last year. Hope this helps,

It should start snowing around early November in VT. They opened the resort 2 weeks early last year because there was so much snow. They also have lots of snow making equipment there, like they do here in Courcheve,l so as long as we don't have a heat wave there should plenty of snow. If there are a lot of high winds VT can suffer though because it blows the snow off the higher pistes especially on the glacier areas. If you're looking for powder then there is as much chance of a big dump in December as any other time in the season but the base won't be so thick, so more chance of scratching your base on rocks. Shouldn't stop you though, if your board's that precious hang it on the wall and get one you don't mind using
