Hey everyone, I've been looking at the learn to snowboard in a day course at Tamworth and on here/other places I've seen most people say its good, but would I be totally knackered after a whole day when I've never snowboarded before?
And also, no one I know is interested in it so I'd have to go on my own but do you think other people in the group will have gone by themselves too or do most people go with a friend?
Oh and does it matter which foot you put forward? Cause it seems that most people put their left foot forward but when I used to mess around on skateboards when I was a kid I always used to put my right foot forward so I dunno if I would do this with snowboarding too.
Sorry for so many questions |

hi! id say that if you're going to take a class, it would be a lot more fun with a friend.. but going solo is great as well. it doesnt really matter if other people have friends cause you're going to be focused on learning how to board anyway!
yes it does matter which foot you put forward. i heard that to determine which foot you should put forward, slide across the floor in your socks at home and which ever foot ends up being in front is the one you make your front foot.
hope i can help |

A lot of people come on their own to lessons but you quickly break the ice and there can be some good comaraderie.
If you're not sure about the full day you can do two 3 hour lessons on the Fast Track lessons. Either way you're given a free 3 hour slope pass if you book before the end of the month.
In terms of a lead foot. You will end up with a lead foot once you've started to link turns. At first the instructor will ask you to think about which is your lead foot. They will usually ask you which foot you lead with when sliding on ice, which leg you put in your trousers first and also which foot you lead up stairs with. It could be plain and simply which foot you want to put in the bindings first. Don't over think this though as it can be pretty easy for an instructor to spot which is your lead foot once you start doing one of the exercises (sideslip diagonals). |

I was knackard after the day but nothing a good night sleep would sort out!!!!
do it on a fri
and i did it on my own and had know problems you don't spend much time stood around and you aint going to hold your mates hand when your sliding down the slope so it don't matter
pluss all the instructors are friendly and people who go down
so don't worry and go for it |

Hello, another noob here
Ive just booked a learn to board in a day course at Tamworth. None of my mates are overly active, so I will be doing the course by myself. Im sure it'll be great fun, and I expect to be knackered and aching the next day too!
I'll be putting my left foot forward, only because this is the one I put forward when I fell down the stairs
I'd be interested to know why it was mentioned to do it on a Friday, especially when my course is booked for a Monday!

I wouldn't worry about which foot goes in front. I was certain that I would be most comfortable going right foot forwards after doing all these little tests you get told etc. Once I got round to doing linked turns I was definitely a lefty. The falling leaf stage is probably when you'll get the feel for your leading foot.
If you're not completely out of shape, I'm sure a days worth of learning wouldn't be too bad.
Be careful in your lessons though. They tend to lead to unexpected dangers, like addiction and lack of cash. |

should of made my self more clear yea only reason do it on a fri so you have a couple of days to recover and lie in's if required and you don't have to get up early.
It dosnt hurt you will fall but you wont at any great speed.
its just doing some thimg your body is't used to and using muscles you never had so you will be tired at the end of the day but one good night sleep and sorted.
so don't organise a big night on the alco-pops for that night
dvd and takeaway |

you will have time to have a go at all ways amd its all personal but after the first day you will have a good idear how you are going to ride |

Those test for which foot forward can work and are a good guide but aren't set in stone. All of those tests make me goofy but i ride regular. id day that you'd snowboard the same way as you skate but dont worry about it for now, it will work itself out once you start riding. |

Okay I'll just forget about that stuff til I get there and see how it goes!
Argh I really wanna just go right now! But I'm thinking I'll probably have to wait til april cause at the mo its £165 for the day course, but then in April it goes down to £119 which is a lot cheaper! I know in April you dont get the free 3 hour thing, but I dont think I even want the 3 hours cause that seems like a pretty long time to be continously snowboarding for a begginner? But April is sooo long away, like a whole month =/ |
