Got to hand it to Westcott, he had a gameplan for every race and used all of his experience and strength. Certainly no luck in him winning it.
See the annoying Canadian ("when I won in 92....." yawn) on the BBC has no time for the event calling it a craps shot! I reckon a twice Olympic gold medalist dispells that myth! |

Got to agree with that, he never seem to panic when he was behind. Think he did have a bit of luck with Nate Holland scrubbing out though. |

QUOTE (Silver Star - 15/02/2010 @ 23:21) Sh1t!!! That was so close. Yeah.... he'd run the course perfectly every heat, then didn't get enough pop and caught the knuckle.... Lucky to get the silver really usually a mistake like that would push you out..... Good tactics by the yank.... Great event! |

I commented to my wife that I thought she was being disrepectful saying it was more of a fight, a case of luck and that the "best person didn't win". |

I don't wear skinnys, but I have a go faster stripe on them, and they're red so I should be disqualified. |

On a serious note, I was suprised how many of them rode fully directional boards with straight ended tails. |

did anyone else think that there was a lack of rollers to pump to generate speed? it was certainly more of a freestylers course with the large jumps.
All the other boardercrosses i've seen had rollers to pump the board through to generate a massive turn of speed, making it very tactical with riders tucking in behind others then darting past using the rollers. There was none of that, and mostly it seemed to be a gradual catch to pass someone due to the person in front using more edge etc, or was because someone fell.
That article is a joke, the same thing happened when Tracey Moseley wore a skinsuit in one of the womens downhill mountain bike events. She looked at the course, decided it wasn't very technical and was more about speed than line choice and skill so wore a skin suit. Her response was something along the lines of "i wanted to win, my sponsers wanted me to win and so i went out and won". The outcry of it ruins the reputation of mtb was just sour grapes. Guess it depends what's important to you, looking cool or winning |
