Well after having passed my crash course learn in a day at castleford, I found I had to go back for more. I have since completed another 4 sessions there and my confidence is building. God I wish i found this sport when I was 10.

Anyhow, the local Ellis Bingham must think I am a day dreamer as I have looked at boots & boards 2 or 3 times now and havn't bought yet (don't worry I will). I am going to buy there as I have decided they are a good bunch and after seeking their advice I will buy from them and have them heat molded and such if need be (you must be mad trying to save a measly tenner online).

Back to the point, I think whilst the hire boards and boots are shambolic, its gonna be down to the individual to make them work. So you know what? I am gonna keep using the poundland boards and boots for now.

My 1st snowboarding purchase is gonna be a helmet, show me them jumps and slides and get ready to call l'hôpital Can't wait.

Hey swampie. Welcome to the greatest sport in the world.

Say goodbye to boring winters and hello to long summer months of waiting for the snow to come back.

Anyway, don't get your heart set on that helmet - it might not fit. They come in various sizes, but heads vary in shape and that one might not be the right shape for you. All the ones I liked were uncomfortable, and the one that fit like a glove (so to speak) frankly makes me look like a tool. Typical.

I got complimented on my lid last Sat @ MK

Like baggzy says though you kinda need to try a few on to make sure it's comfy and also bear in mind vents too. If you tend to be a warm person then you'll need lots of vents, or at least the option of removing ears pads and vent plugs etc to stay cool in the domes and when spring/summer riding. Even the very warm people I know close up for a Candian mid-winter trip tough

Alright Bagsy,

Cheers for the tip but fortunately my heed is fitting nicely. New helmets a proper alan minter, little visor at the front to boot. In another era I might be mistaken for a nazi in this bad boy.
At least it will fend off those rechid skiers a little ey?

Mini that grape vine is quick my friend, only had the nazi cap a few hours and already you know

Well, no broken bones, managed to stay on my feet 2 of 3 runs over the long black box down the bottom end too.
Slight twitchyness to the big brown eye when zooming over the second mound, but eventually i caught a take off and it's classified as a resounding success on my debut danger run.

Sooner or later the breaks and bruises will come, I can feel it in my feet.

Not being funny adam, but a helmet made for doing 300mph at high altitude would make a right tit of a bloke falling over doing 5kph over a rather tricky bump don't you think?

nah, its all good. the lid is designed for mountain bike use, but actually does something to protect your face, not just your head...

I saw a collision last year, where someone smacked into a skiiers elbow at fairly low speed. Result= 1 broken nose and busted lip.

The full face would have protected them. I personally prefer an open face Snowboard helmet because I like to feel the breeze on my face at speed. You make your choices.

How heavy is that hemet Adam ?

I have huge respect for full face helmets...

Sadly I don't use one, but wish I did on this occasion

It's full carbon fibre - so no heavier than my RED mutiny.

when you're on rails and boxes it's quite common to smack your face.
