Just to let everyone know who is going to the three valleys this year, that all the leading ski groups i.e. Crystal etc have flown out to france to meet with the ski lift owners to try and make them charge us left for the lift passes. However as its the best deal in europe for pounds vs. pistes they wouldn't budge.

They did however agree to write to the owners of the 3 valley bars and resturants to plead with them to take a look at their prices and see if they would consider changing them or at least putting as stop on the rise of them.

Apparently 80% of 3 valley tourists are Brits and if we stop going because we cant afford it they be in the sh*t so hopefully they will sort something.

All bars/resturants who sign up or agree to this will apparently be published on the british ski operators websites. So if your going this year you may be lucky and we can get a cheaper beer and know where to go to get it!!!

would be nice .......but it wont happen tho
I am off to the three valleys on the 16th of jan.....so well we will see,i also managed to get to belle plagne and the price difference is a fair bit (still not cheap) but cheaper than the 3 valleys and i`d say la plagne would give the 3 valleys a run for its money. The only reason i`m their this year is that i got 6 days snowboarding half board for £200 otherwise i`d plum for la plagne.

Yeah for the past 2 years ive gone skiing in coursheval - i didnt drink cos im underage and with my parents but i had hot chocolates, at 1850 the price of a hot chocolate is... 7 euros!!!

the exchange rate last year was sh*t too - so it was baisically 7 quid for a hot chocy! im going to les minuires (however you spell is) this year also in le 3 valee, lets hope the prices will be cheaper
Y'know, yellow snow doesnt taste that bad....

yh we are staying in brides les bains pain in the ass on the 25 min gondola but hell of a lot cheaper. Bad enough the beer being expensive but when hot chocolate and a bottle of coke is more than you pay for a beer in england it really takes the piss

Charlie am i sensing free/cheaper drinks if we come down to your bar??????????????

We stayed at Le Skilt back in January, pleasantly surprised considering how much we paid! Cracking location right by the lifts and the food was belting too considering it was half board...Les Menuires is a (little) cheaper than most of the 3V from what I gathered but not much. Courchevel, from what I hear is a different ball game altogether...
We've gone on holiday by mistake... are you the farmer???

ah shame mate you are going on those dates as maybe we could of hooked up for a beer or 2

I will be staying in the club veseau, this is run by ski-weekends i have stayed here many times now.Its an ok hotel but thats about it.

As for the resort, its one of the top resorts in france, dunno what level you are at but if you are abit of a newbie just stick to the local pass as this will keep you more than entertained for a week. The lift pass sucks but hey without it you been knackered
meribel has 2 boards parks ( the moon park and ..doh cannot remeber its name) these parks are both good,i have not spent to much time in them really but i one of these parks would be more for the experienced park rats.....i do most of my rideing on and off piste.....altho i do like to ride the odd rail or 2 and also spend abit of time on the kickers.

If you can eat/drink away from the mountains it works out alot cheaper (i know you go away to spend some money but i think the 3 valleys in general take the piss )
brides on the other hand is not to bad...apart from the main gondala. But hey its not that bad.
as been said brides is pretty quiet but where we stay they do a session in the cactus bar in meribel this bar is at the foot of the slopes,i think it costs about 7 euros but you get a free drink with that and also a coach ride back to the hotel.

I am sure you will enjoy ya holiday,as the resort is so vast.

Merinet.com is probably your best source of information for Meribel.

I've found this pdf for the bus times in the Maps&Times section, but it only goes as far down as Les Aulles.

If you want to ski the 3 Valleys and don't want to pay Courchevel or Meribel prices come to La Tania. Situated between Courchevel and Meribel and is on the Courchevel ski pass area. Pints of Amstel are 3.50euros and on promotion nights are 3euros. Hot choc I don't drink, but if it was more than a pint I'd be surprised.
Most of the restaurants are doing meal deals around the 10-12euro mark for a drink, hot sandwich and desert.
Lunchtime on a sunny day La Tania is packed, as anyone in the know is getting a cheap lunch here.
Snow sure into resort at 1350m and a free lift on the learner slope which can save you buying a lift pass on the first day if you're a beginner.
6 day Courchevel pass is 190euros, for an adult, which gives you a possible 48hrs of boarding (try comparing that to spending 48hrs in a snowdome !) Mind you the cheap shots and beer promotion nights can seriously chop down how much of the 48hrs you can actually achieve

i've been going to courchevel for 10 years now and it is expensive but only if you dont know where you're going.

there is cheap beer to be found in la tania as someone has already said. there is a bar in 1550 over the road from le granges lift station, cant remember the name but its about 4E a pint in there so not to bad. in the forum 1850 you can get paninis for a couple of euros and theres a cheap outdoor pizza place in 1650 at the bottom of the slopes which you cant really miss and if you do want to eat up the top of the mountain but dont want to be ripped off too much then go to les chenus, which has relativly cheap food (compared to other piste side restaraunts) and its got a great view.

we stay down in bozel when we go which is the permenantly lived in town at the bottom of courchevel. no lifts but there is a free bus. you can eat out for 10E and get a pint for 3E.

cheapest thing though is cheese and pate bagettes mmmmm yummy......

But the rumour is down here that there will be a lift in by 2015 linking bozel into to san bon and then to la praz, bring it on cos then i can walk straight out of the apartment and into the lift
