#1 "member map"? Posted 20/11/2009 @ 11:18 |

just wondered if this forum had considered some kind of member map?
it could be quite cool to see which members are local and other nifty things could be included like location markers for slopes, domes, shops etc
i know i'd def be interested to see whos local and perhaps it would save loads of threads asking the "anyone local?" question....
i've seen it work really well on other forums like the mini forum i was a member of when i used to own classic minis
or am i being really dumb and new as it turns out there's one only 2 clicks away and i've missed it completey? |

ohhhh glad i'm not the only one who thinks it could be a good idea! can never tell in todays climate about whether people will mind others knowing their location... but then again its not compulsary to put location in the member profile is it?
it'd be great to be able to check and see what slopes and shops are near by, i'd prob find lots that i wasnt aware of.... it'd also be great to find like-minded local people to go practice with! |

I accidentally found a way to get the member list up.
Click on someones profile and look at the top left of the menulbar and below that is a "you are here:" caption and it actually says "members list", click on that "et viola"
It wasn't obvious at first though to be fare. |

No, I think it's a great idea.
For example, I am thinking about going back to dry slopes to practice inbetween holidays and am aware of three near-ish but short of extensive googling and then multi-mapping them, I have no idea which is closest. And indeed if there are others I am missing
It would also be good to meet up with others from SE London. I think people should be able to opt into being shown on a map so then if they want to be seen they can be |

Or you just go to the bottom of the page and click on 'members list'? |

"there are currently 18,928 registered members on GONEboarding.co.uk."
even on the members list you can only search by name.... even with a location search that doesnt open up the slopes/shops idea.... plus i like visual things like a map you can zoom in on... lots of hard work but i've seen other forums do it so must be possible.
luckily i have no idea how to do it so i can sit back and demand someone else does it for me hahaha! |

Add this to Starzy's to do list then. Theres a section on here about site usage and problems. He also put up a thread not long ago asking for site feedback and enhancements. |

and most people make up their location because there are strange places on the drop-down list that you can choose
Luckily I don't know how to do it either so I am sitting back too - someone on here must be good at that kind of thing? |
