Who's Afraid of the Park? – MK review

While the rest of the UK were wallowing in an epic heat wave, we packed into SNO!Zone in Milton Keynes for an afternoon thirty degrees cooler than the rest of the country.

It was the second date on the Who's Afraid of the Park tour, a sell-out afternoon where riders were taken back to basics for three hours of 'freestyle for dummies' coaching.

The park shapers at MK had worked hard to give us what we needed – plenty of features of all shapes and sizes, for all levels of riders. There were rails, boxes, kickers and pipes, spread across the slopes, with trainers on standby at the features to give us a helping hand. Once one trick was stomped, they'd step it up and tell you how to do something else.

We had the likes of Chris Chatt, Kat Miller, Ollie Dutton, and Becky Menday alongside some of SNO!Zone's own coaching staff (big up to Tom!) to lead us through the afternoon.

After three hours of ollies, spins, boardslides and fun times, the masses gathered at the bottom of the slope to bathe winners in prizes, and throw out freebies to everyone else, while the tunes kept on rolling.

An awesome time was had by all, which was clear to see on the grins on everyone's faces – riders and trainers alike. It sounds like the Scotland date went down just as well, so with Castleford on the tour lineup, I'd advise anyone to get in there quick as you'll come out with some new tricks, some freebies and far less Afraid of the Park.

We caught up with Kat Miller, Becky Menday and Chris Chatt after the event to see what they had to say.
