SL
‘Super Light, all-mountain attacker’. This is Union’s more affordable, ‘real-world’ version of the top end MC-Metafuse binding. It features the stage III Atlas baseplate and SL Symmetrical shape/Asymmetrical flex Highbacks for maximum tweakability and heelside control. CNC machined heelcups remove material to reduce weight while maintaining strength. The dual density EVA bushings are a lightweight, durable material that allows for true board flex and the all-new open toe straps allow for multi-positional options with the open ‘Ultra Grip’ design. This binding is for someone who wants a really powerful and responsive ride over the entire mountain with a binding that’s super light weight while remaining amazingly tough and durable.

Atlas
The Atlas, which was introduced to the Union range for the 2011/12 season, is basically an evolution of the most popular ‘Force’ binding and is the most affordable model in the range to use the stage III Atlas baseplate. When compared to the Force, you’re getting the lighter baseplate without compromising on strength and a better Asym/Symmetrical Highback. This highback is symmetrical in shape with a multizone flex which gets increasingly stiffer towards the base where the fins get progressively thicker. This provides you with great lateral flex from side to side but retains incredible strength and response through your turns. Look at this binding as the ‘next generation Force’.

Contact Pro
‘Gigi tested, Ruff approved’ and one of our favourite bindings in the Union range since it first appeared in the 2010/11 season. As the name suggests, it is based on the Contact binding but is upgraded in almost every department. It features a carbon injected contact baseplate which reduces weight and slightly increases the stiffness. The highback is extremely lightweight due to its minimal material design and has a relatively flat shape at the top allowing for maximum tweakability. Like the Atlas highback, it’s stiffer towards the base providing great lateral flex while retaining excellent response from heel to toe. The heelcup is CNC machined for further weight reduction and the accelerator is dual density giving you a stiffer material under foot and a softer, more cushioning material under the toes. Another great feature of the Contact Pro is the multizone EVA bushings which provide softer cushioning on the inside and stiffer cushioning on the outside; this naturally cants inwards and prevents your foot from rolling out.

Force
The Force doesn’t need much of an introduction really, it’s been Union’s best selling binding for the last 8 years and is constantly getting tweaked and upgraded each season. It uses the classic Union style Stage II Baseplate, the iconic Multizone Dupont Zytel ST Force Highbacks and also features an Anodized Extruded Aluminium Heelcup which adds 30% strength. The binding now comes with Union’s Multi-Layered Tapered Strap Core for added comfort and continues to feature the lightweight and durable Injected EVA Bushings. They are also the most affordable model in the 2013 range to feature Magnesium Ratchets. This is the binding of choice for anyone that wants to ride all over the mountain without paying through the nose for the privilege. Extremely durable and responsive, the Force can handle piste, powder and massive kickers with ease making them the go-to binding for a large number of boarders.

Contact
The idea behind the Contact is to allow the board to flex naturally from tip to tail with much less interference from the dead points you get under-foot with most bindings. This is achieved with the use of Injected Dual Zone EVA Bushings under the binding. The result is that only 19% of the hard Dupont Zytel base actually comes into contact with your board, which eliminates much of the ‘dead zone’ problem. This also results in a much softer feel which is perfectly suited to park riding; jibbing & buttering in particular. If you spend a lot of time in the park, messing around or riding in the UK domes then this is probably one of the best bindings to look at. For the 2013 season, Union have completely revamped the highback. The all-new Fusion Highback gives you lateral tweakability in any temperature (unlike urethane) by introducing cut out ‘slits’ along each edge which get progressively smaller towards the base. I thought this was one of the stand-out features from the new Union range and they really impressed me during the test back in January.

Flite
The Flite (F*cking Light) is one of the best, affordable bindings on the market and they’re not just limited to beginners. The Flite baseplate is similar to a scaled down version of the Contact base with less padding and an all-round highback with a freestyle driven design. For the 2013 season, the Flite will feature Union’s Anodized Extruded Aluminium Heelcup which increases strength by 30% and you get the super comfy 3D multi layer Strap Core which evenly distributes pressure - all on one of the most affordable bindings on the market!

DLX
The DLX is the entry level binding from Union that features many parts and innovations from higher priced bindings from previous years. It has ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’. The stage I Dupont Zytel Base still comes with injected EVA Bushings, an Extruded Aluminium Heelcup and Aluminium Ratchets. They feature the all-new open toe straps for multi positional options and the multizone dupont zytel ST Highbacks are based on the design of the 2011/12 Contact highback. These are perfect for anyone just starting out or boarders on a really tight budget. You get more on this binding than many other brands provide at £150+.

As always, every binding in the Union range comes with a lifetime warranty on both the baseplate and the heelcup.
