Company History

We are a eco friendly clothing label from Fife, Scotland. We make clothing from natural materials for people inspired by the ocean, mountain and urban landscape.

Our label is for everyone, much like the planet we all share. Our aim is simple, to do things in the right way, minimising damage to the environment. Offering an alternative choice of products made from materials that are ethically sourced and accredited. Our products are manufactured in factories using only renewable energy and every effort is made to remain carbon neutral in their production.

We're passionate about championing unique talent from around the world, supporting dj's, photographers, artists, musicians and action sports people. Raising their profile and bringing attention to their work.

GB: Where are the products from and how do they get manufactured?
BR: All of our products are manufactured in factories using only renewable energy, one in India which is located next to the organic cotton field and powered by a nearby wind farm, and the other in Turkey where our bamboo tee's are made using only solar power.

GB: How are they organic do you work to any standards?
BR: The cotton we use for our organic tees and hoodies comes from a plantation in India which uses only organic methods and is certified by the soil association and the Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S.)

GB: How are they low carbon?
BR: Our entire supply chain is audited by the fair wear foundation meaning that all our products are sweat shop free so every worker from the field to the shelf has a fair wage, clean & safe working conditions and the right to union representation.

GB: What about the printing process?
BR: We have carefully selected our printing methods to minimise the impact on the environment by using inks that take less time to cure so they spend less in the ovens saving electricity and making use of an in-built filter system to ensure no inks escape into the local environment.

We put a question to Dan Rees sponsored by Bamboo Rider.

GB: So Dan why did you get involved with Bamboo rider?
Dan: I got involved with Bamboo rider last summer because I liked the ethic and like minded folk that were involved from all parts of world. Coming from a surfing background being eco friendly is very important to me and now living in the mountains I am always of fighting the good fight to save the planet... Now I can help spread the word through promoting the brand at our DJ night's we put on and wearing the product, the product of course is quality that speaks for itself....

Here is some of the Bamboo rider collection:

GB: Why use Bamboo in your products?

LS: It was really a clear choice for us Bamboo is one of the most Eco-friendly building materials there isit's sturdy and solid, yet it grows extremely fast and is therefore rapidly renewable. We have made it our mission be as green as possible and therefor reduce our carbon footprint. Using Bamboo cores in our boards is just one of the many ways we plan to achieve our mission.

BR: Why not!
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing sustainable plants/grass's on the planet. It's good for the ecosystems, because it does not require chemicals or fertilizers for its cultivation. We only use the moso bamboo species, which is not the food group eaten by the pandas, so there is no need to worry about the pandas' diet. It has a thermal regulating feature, which makes it comfortable during
summer and keeps you warm during winter, making it ideal to ride in. It also gives uv protection because of its natural fibres and is biodegradable as it doesn't not undergo chemical treatments like
formaldehyde and chlorine in its production. Bamboo is often compared to cashmere and silk in its feel, but is a fraction of the price...!

GB: How did you guys start collaborating?

LS & BR: We began collaborating as our common aim is simple, to do things in the right way, minimising damage to the environment. Offering an alternative choice of products made from materials that are ethically sourced and accredited. We both manufacture our products in factories using only renewable energy and every effort is made to remain carbon neutral in their production.

GB: What's Next?

LS: We are always working on new art, customization, board gear, merch and integrating new ways to make Lucky Snowboards even Greener...

BR: Next for us is technical/outerwear...base layers, jackets, trousers. Then for summer a new range of vests, t-shirts, board shorts and rash vest.
