Why go?
Geneva is the ultimate ski location. Situated at the foot of the mountains, it is the gateway to the Alpine slopes. And with 35 resorts within an hour’s drive, what better excuse do you need to extend your holiday and visit a few of the surrounding tourist spots.
As Switzerland’s second largest city, Geneva is also a great city break destination with just the right mix of relaxation, excitement and romance. The city offers a fantastic cultural experience with in excess of 30 museums, theatres and galleries. If it’s downtime you’re after, then don’t worry, Geneva has a variety of shops and restaurants to suit any taste and budget. The city also enjoys a superb location next to Lake Geneva.

Where to stay?
Why not take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and stay in an authentic, warming Swiss chalet like Hotel Edelweiss. Just steps away from Lake Geneva and local amenities, it’s a great hotel to suit everyone.

La Cour des Augustins is a stylish and contemporary hotel, situated in a quieter residential area of the city, but only a short ride from the centre of Geneva. Rooms are very artistic and colourful and an excellent choice for any modern traveller.

If you are a chocolate lover then Swissotel Metropole is the perfect hotel for you. The hotel offers a 'Swiss Chocolate Delight' package which includes; chocolate on arrival, a chocolate dinner for 2 and a chocolate bath at the ‘After the Rain’ spa. This hotel is heaven for anyone who loves chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.

Where to eat?
If you love fondue then Le Gruyerien is the place to go! All ingredients are locally sourced and full of flavour, so make sure you ‘dip’ in for a bite.

Artistic, with a touch of culture is Café du Grutli. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with a really creative menu. The restaurant also serves as a film house for film-festival, so always attracts an interesting crowd.

Overlooking Lake Geneva is La Perle du Lac or 'the pearl of the lake'. The restaurant even faces Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, so this restaurant really is something special when it comes to the views.

Check out World Travel Guide for more restaurants.

Chill out at:
Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in central Europe and provides spectacular views. You can take a long walk or train ride around the Lake to see the beautiful scenery and explore the surroundings.
After a hard day of snowboarding, treat yourself to a delicious hot chocolate at Gilles Desplanches. If that’s not quite enough, you can indulge yourself in one of their delicious cookies or brownies.

If you get the chance:
In 2010 Geneva is hosting the International Capital World Circus. The circus presents tightrope walkers, fire breathers, magicians, animal trainers, mimes, contemporary dancers and much more. It's great fun for all ages and a really fun day out!
Enjoying a champagne fondue in the 'cabane' of Bains des Paquis is a unique experience. The Bains De Paquis on Lake Geneva, right in the city centre, has been designed as a beach resort. It also has a state-of-the-art spa complex on the pier, which is the big draw during the chilly winter months.
Make sure you visit the unusual, but popular boutique Come Prima. It's great to pick up last minute souvenirs, or take a little more time to browse and pick yourself up a real gem.
Fancy a game of chess? Then head to Parc des Bastions where there’s a huge chessboard and equally huge pieces. It’s a great way to interact with the seasoned locals and show your skills as chess pro!

Ski Tips:
- Borrow your ski outfit from friends or buy at TK Maxx - brilliant bargains!;
- Book your flights as early as possible. Money saved in the air can be money spent on the slopes;
- Look up the local bus and train services as they often work out cheaper than airport transfer companies;
- Pre-book your ski lift tickets.

Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan moves from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington to live with her father, Charlie, to allow her mother Renée to travel with her new husband, Phil Dwyer, who is a minor league baseball star. Even though Bella never had many friends in Phoenix, she quickly attracts attention at her new school in Forks, and is quickly befriended by several students. Much to her dismay, several boys in the school compete for shy Bella's attention.
