What is Snowbombing?
It’s one of the worlds most unique festivals – generating an unparalleled atmosphere snow-sculpted around one week of superb music, unbelievable venues ( including giant Igloo’s, pine forests, open-air mountain stages and centuries-old wooden barns, amidst 625km’s of pure unadulterated pistes for all standards of sliding, and a traditional Austrian village bursting with top quality spa hotels, bars & clubs.
No kids, no families – just 3000 like-minded fancy dressed up loons who will probably become your friend for life!
The Resort
It seems to us that since Snowbombers love the Austrian resort of Mayrhofen so much and its our 10th Birthday this year, it would be churlish for us to move. So we'll be back in our favourite Alpine town in 2009 for the fifth year and the best Snowbombing yet!
Mayrhofen has everything you could ever want from a ski resort...625km of piste for a start! The snow sure Hintertux glacier, the world famous Vans board park AND access to 10 resorts and 177 lifts. But its not all about the pistes...Mayrhofen looks like its been lifted straight off the top of a chocolate box. Add to that the fantastic choice of Hotels, tons of restaurants, bars, spas, shops and amazing venues, what more would you ask for?
Highway to Hell
The HIGHWAY TO HELL Demo Session run in association with Method.tv and see's more abuse of gravity than a NASA spacewalk. With 5K prize money, 20+ pros riding in a stress-free jam format, an on-mountain soundsystem from Fingerlickin’ Records, and a custom-built line in Austria’s most famous snowpark, 2009 is going to be heavy!
To celebrate the developments in the Vans Penken Park, which include a brand new chairlift serving a beginners obstacle course, we're developing the music side of things to cater for park-lifers. We'll be programming the GONEboarding terrace, which means we'll have three mountain music areas to provide a soundtrack to your gravity abuse. Rider run community GONEboarding will be in full effect on the sun-blessed terrace, slowly building to the shuddering climax of the week: the HIGHWAY TO HELL PRO-JAM (Thurs-Sat).
Snowbombing is more than just a party…
Everyone knows Snowbombing is a great party in a fantastic resort, with a sublime terrain park, but don’t make the mistake of thinking Snowbombing only appeals to those who prefer sound systems to snow and partying all-night to playing-in-the-powder all day long.
With a pro session attracting more and more teams of internationally respected riders, whisper it lightly, Snowbombing is attended by some pretty fly ‘board scene faces. Pro-rider Vicky Miller,

This year of all years is the one you CANNOT afford to miss: FATBOY SLIM in a forest, DIZZEE RASCAL in a spin, and loads of tenth birthday surprises up our sleeves all add up to the ultimate Snowbombing.
This year we’ll be plugging into a brand new centrally-located 3000 capacity venue; giving us the ability to put together a ground-breaking line-up, the likes of which has NEVER before been seen in a ski resort.
