SnowWorld - Landgraaf, Netherlands

Description
Situated in Limburg in NL near Masstricht this is allegedly the largest snowdome in the world. It has 2 mains slopes (one "red" where they hold one round of the FIS world cup each year, 1 blue) each 520m long and serviced by a 6 person chair lift and 2 buttons, a park with 3 seperate lines of kickers/rails/boxes etc with it's own button and then a seperate drag and magic carpet lifts and associated areas for beginners. The "locals" are pretty friendly as long as you don't snake them in the park or stand on top of a feature (serously - some people haven't a clue). We've never had any hassle from anyone and have had really interesting chats from people in the surrounding countries who come visit. It get's pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon in the winter but from about 5.30 it quietens down. On Friday nights it's "boarders night" and they've a DJ playing from the onpiste chalet (where you can get your fondues and glühwein). They also have a canteen, resteraunt, cafe/bar and even an "apres-ski bar" (with horrible apres-ski music! ) all looking out on the slope. The guys in the rental area are friendly and helpful in getting the right setting for you (in English, Dutch, German and some of them French too)...none of my friends have ever had a problem with them. The guys in the gear shop go out of their way to be helpful and have some pretty honest advice also. Winter is E42and summer is E30 for 8 hours lift pass (includes insurance but no gear rental) They've also just completed a "SportHotel" on the site...with some pretty good deals for all inclusive packages.

Review Detail
As captured in the description, this place is quite big with 2 main pistes (520m long - service by a 6 person chair and 2 button lifts), a park (wth it's own button lift) and a beginners area (drag and magic carpet).

The staff have always been very friendly and helpful (in English, German and Dutch) in everything from deciding what tickets to get to the full gear rental.

The slope conditions are generally good, although the top 5m of the "red" can become sheet ice due to people slide slipping...but good practice none the less. Generally the kickers etc. are well maintained but the "beginner line" less so and so can get rutted.

The food isn't too bad, and not very expensive either off the slope. Just try and time it so you're not with every one else trying to eat.

We've brought quite a few beginners there prior to going to the mountains and because of the chair, button and drag lifts they've managed to get some experience on these and are less worried when on the real mountains.

There is a local crew in the park, but once you don't snake them, trash the kicker they've litterly just finished shaping they're fine.
Strengths
Having a choice of 2 main pistes and 3 different lines in the park means that it's a great place for a mixed ability group (including absolute beginners and park hounds).

The 6 person chair is great and gives a good view of the park.

They now have an onsite "sport hotel" with all the mod cons and good weekend deals.

The 8 hour deal is great - and if you're off the slopes your time "stops" so eating food etc. doesn't count as part of your 8 hours.

Keep an eye out for "boarders night" and other events that have a reduced rate and things like DJs, airbags etc.
Weaknesses
Can get very busy on a Sunday afternoon during winter time.

Should check in advance if one of the pistes is closed because of a competition or other event.

The publick transport to geth there is not that best.

(The apres-ski bar - it's very very scary)
