Had these boots for a good while now so thought i'd better give them some praise after reading the above review. I previously had ThirtyTwo Team 2's and had no end of problems getting a good fit with them so this time I tried on boots from almost every brand. Every shop I went to told me I had wide feet and that Salomons were for thin feet but for me they gave the best fit by a long way. I think it is more accurate to describe Salomons as fitting a thin heel and wide forefoot.
I was torn between the support and stiffness of the Malmute and the F24, I went for the F24 as I felt the inner padding was a lot more 'plush' and comfortable than the Malamute.
The fit on the boots is great, they have loads of tech to keep your heel in place and keep your feet at a good temperature (I could wring the sweat out of my socks after a day in a pair of 32s). The lacing system is fast and easy. Regarding the other review where he states the top eyelet kept breaking - i'm not sure how hard you were doing the laces up but you must have been giving them some serious stick! I've done mine mega mega tight before and not had any problems, and so have mates with similar boots. It is also worth noting that behind the eyelets is a velcro cover leading to screws where you can quickly and easily replace the eyelets if you do break one. I think all the Salomon boots use the same ones so it should be pretty easy to get a spare if you needed one.
The boots are also really light and have a small footprint due to the Fusion liner which allows you to get in smaller bindings and not need a wide board which is great!
In summary I couldn't recommend these boots enough! |

Great build quality Fast lacing system which is also very adaptable to get a perfect fit Small footprint allowing you to get in a smaller binding and not need a wide board Good temperature management

| I have changed to a custom insole as the standard insole was allowing my arch to collapse. Saying that the standard insole is still of a better standard than most! |

Not a true 'review' - just a warning. Unfortunately I have very large, very narrow feet and the concensus seems to be that Salomon boots are the narrowest fit.
I was all set to buy a pair of UK 12.5 F24's when, on lacing the boots up in the shop the top lace holder cracked and snapped off.... The (very helpful) people at Snow & Rock were able to source the last remaing pair from another store, and a couple of weeks later I went back to buy them. Spent a few minutes trying them on and getting the level of padding right (footbed, Superfeet etc) and was about to get them heat moulded when... to my HORROR the top eyelet snapped again!
Would certainly appear to be a design fault - can't recommend - seems to be the same design on the whole range to be honest. Gutted, as I'm not sure whether I'll be able to find an alternative! |
