The first thing you notice is the Magne-Traction sidecut. This bat-wing shaped sidecut gives you several cuts into the piste for noticeably better grip and control on ice and hardpack. The extra confidence it gave let me turn the dial up on the piste and ride much quicker.
The extra contact points let you detune the edges and still have the same bite in the turns. So you can flat-base with confidence and avoid the fly-swatting grabby edges. Having ridden a Magne-traction board for a few weeks I just wouldn't go back to a regular sidecut any more.
Magne-traction aside, The One had a decent amount of pop for a stiff board, rode well in switch and was nice and light. It also looked the nuts.
Mine had a short and intense life of just 3 weeks. I impatiently rode it on some off-piste that was a bit too thin so it might not be fair to say the base could have been stronger. Eventually I managed to crack the sidewall and de-lam the board. Quite honestly I think this was my fault rather than a weakness in the board. |
