Review Detail
Bought these wrist guards as could just about fit under my gloves and were very comfortable.

Wore them a few times at Tamworth Snowdome and probably stopped lots of sprains.

Wore them for a week in Andorra and were very comfortable. Gave complete protection to my wrists despite many falls.

On the last day caught a heel edge going very slowly and fell back onto my hand. I fractured my radius bone. I'm 100% sure that if I didnt have decent wrist guards on I would have shattered my wrist bones which would take far longer to heal.

Would recommend these to anyone!
Strengths
Comfortable, very strong
Weaknesses
Hard to fit over gloves - I wore the inner of my gloves underneath wrist guards and waterproof bit on top, otherwise very difficult to get gloves on.

The only wrist guards I've ever owned so don't have anything to compare to but I'd say these are pretty good. I've tried on friends wrist guards and despite the size of the Red ones, somehow they don't feel as sturdy as other makes. But then I've never had any serious wrist injuries (touch wood) so they must be doing something right!

They are comfy on. I did on a couple of occasions have some pain around the thumb area after wearing them all day but that just needed a bit of adjustment to their position and I now recocnise as soon as I put them on if they are not on right.

Big problem for me (and obviously other reviewers) is getting gloves to go over them. Once I manage to squeeze my gloves over them then I try not to take them off again, only for lunch time.

I would recomend when buying these, try them with your gloves if you can, or buy new gloves at the same time.
Strengths
Comfortable on
Weaknesses
Bulky on the back of the hand - difficult to get gloves on

I bought these wrist guards in a Spanish resort this year called Baquira Berret. I paid 30 euros for them, wich is twice the price of the Da Kine one were, but they wernt in my size. I tested them in the shop and they appeared to give good support...looks can be deceptive. After wrestleing to get the guards over my gloves, i hit the slopes and had an awsome first day.

The next day i hit the beginer slopes to teach my sister to snowboard and while moving at walking pace (not exaggerating) i fell slowly on to my backside. I had put my arms out to support myself and my left one snapped.

I missed out on the rest of the holiday - dont let it happen to you.

I cant give a rating low enough.

These are by far the most comfortable wrist guards I've tried. When I started boarding I bought the first pair of guards I came across and found they dug into my arms and made it uncomfortable to carry my board. The Red guards don't apply pressure and allow my hands to stay in a neutral position. I don't feel at all restricted wearing them, and it took a bit of getting used to as I was tempted to think they wouldn't help if I fell. This isn't the case, though, and I feel incredibly safe with them.

The downside, I guess, is the size, but that's a problem with all guards that you wear under gloves. I found it hard to find gloves that would fit well with the guards, but ended up with a pair with separate liners. I wear the liners under the guards, and then the waterproof gloves over the top of both. This makes them even more comfortable.
Strengths
Highly adjustable
Very comfortable
Pull-on straps to help get the guards on
Weaknesses
A bit pricey, but worth it

Switched over to these after using Demon's wristguard for my first week learning in Tignes 2004/5. So there's a lot here on the shortcomings of the Demon product to explain why the Red is so much better.

These guards are surprisingly hard to come by given they are a Burton product. I found mine tucked away behind a pillar on the Ellis Brigham stand at this year's Ski & Snowboard show at Earl's Court.

The Demon product has one stiff metal insert that runs under the fore-arm and curves into the palm of your hand. Even wrapped in the neoprene this focus's the load at one point - the top end of the insert on your forearm. As you can imagine as a novice I went over a fair few times in the week. By day 3 the load-points on my arms were pretty tender. This experience was repeated by a much more experienced friend who I lent them to for the following week - and he falls over a lot less.

By comparison the desgn of the Red guards has 3 "stick" inserts along the underside and more on the top. This spreads the load a lot more evenly and is far, far more comfortable. With 2 velcro bands (one at the knuckles and one on the wrist) the whole thing is much more adjustable too. The Demon guard has just one strap at the forearm and this can slip off at the elbow end of the guard.

My impression is the Red guards may be less ultimately strong than the Demon but I suspect your Ulna or Radius bones will fracture before the inserts in the Red guard give up.

In short, if you want comfort and protection so you can concentrate on enjoying yourself, search high and low for the Red guard before buying another product.
Strengths
