Okay a review from someone who paid to attend the place.
we purchased 5 lessons as a bulk deal.
Our instructor for 4 of the 5 lessons was good, his name was Richard.
the slope, well i cannot compare to any other dry slope so cannot say much.
the reason for the bad review? I broke my wrist - badly, try multiple fractures - due, in part ,to un-supervised kids on the slope. Even though it is plainly against their own policy to allow under 16 yr olds on the slope unsupervised, this is still not the problem.
my issue was the lack of ability and knowledge of the first aiders. they had no idea how to assist someone with a broken bone, other than "ice" which any one with half a brain would know. For starters, they were convinced it was not broken as I could move my fingers. sorry, but this is far from a way to tell. When i told them - IT IS BROKEN - they did not believe me at all.
It was only after I took off my glove and jacket (I know, bad move, but I was in serious pain!) that it became 100% clear to me, it was busted, and it was bad. The swelling around the radius joint and the defelction of the hand made it obvious. the pain only made it obvious to me - the visuals confirmed it for everyone else.
Worst of all. We were from out of town, hence have no idea about the area. Especially where the hell the closest hospital was. All we could get was "Reading" great, where is "Reading" we asked. We hinted that perhaps an ambulance could be called, the answer was "No, they won't come for a "suspected" broken wrist, you'll need to get a Taxi", well at least they were starting to come around to the fact it may be broken. the least they could have done was call the hospital....
I got so annoyed we just left, into the closing darkness and rain off to Reading to find the Hospital in our hire car.
I'm still waiting for them to follow up with the incident report - ie: call to see how I was, seeing as I think they had a section for this on the form?, not to mention it being just plane good practice (law perhaps?) But after 12 months I doubt this will ever happen.
In the end it caused me to completely sit out my trip to Val D'Isere last winter and watch all my friends ski and board whist I walked around for a week. This hurt more than the break...
Two operations later and some Ex-Fixation (yes, that means metal framing on the OUTSIDE of your limb) my wrist is coming good. I have almost 100% movement and head off to Serre Che in 2 weeks.
Cheers,
Clive Silva |
