All i can say is i will never do Dendix again ..... snowflex is AMAZING !!!!!
The place has a beginners slope with rope tow and magic carpet, a dendix slope serviced by a more traditional button tow, a snowflex slope serviced by a separate button tow, plenty changing facilities and even an astroturf football / hockey pitch!!
The whole set up still has the feel of its not all quite ready yet and the dendix slope is really slow - until it rained. But overall i thought the place was fantastic.
The snowflex slope (designed as a freestyle slope) has been laid out fairly well - considering the area they had to work with and really lends itself to some good tricks. There is three spots from where you can enter the snowflex slope each leading to the features - a natural shaped hit (table top style) a kicker, a rainbow rail, a straight rail (with at least a 6' drop), a 1/4 pipe and a mogul run + plenty natural shaping to the slope. Most of the features could be tackled by a competant boarder, however looking at the rails i think you need to be a good if not experienced rail rider before tackling them.
The instructors and the local riders were all really friendly and there was some good banter going on - as well as some good tricks and slams!!!
The public sessions are limited at the weekends (12-3 and 5pm onwards - i think!!) and you are required to wear a helmet and gloves or you will not be allowed access to the slopes. The hire gear is impressive - all brand new at opening in Oct '04.
There is obviously still some finishing off to do but with time these things will all get sorted - but even accounting for this it is a fantastic facility that will no doubt be producing some freestyle champions in the future. I will def. be going back.... and as more and more people experience snowflex i think it will spell the death of dendix. |

Still not quite finished or polished up .... but that will no doubt come with time.
Dendix slope is a bit old and tired looking - only really speeds up in the wet. |
