Description
The linking of La Plagne to Les Arcs has given a real heart to the great ski area of "Paradiski", a natural expanse of limitless possibilities waiting to be explored.A holiday in Peisey-Vallandry will introduce you to the genuine delights of our picturesque valley and its wealth of living traditions and social graces as well its history and heritage.Situated at the very gates of the Vanoise National Park, Peisey-Vallandry is also an outstanding spot for "Nordic" sports. The resort is well known for its dog-sled races, biathlon competitions not to mention its snow shoe outings and cross-country ski trails. This is "THE MOUNTAIN" of all mountains and a mountain of pleasure.

Ok, i may be a bit biased as i visited this place in january 2008. The snow was AMAZING! at least half a metre every night (it seemed) and blue sunny skies every day, you couldnt ask for better conditions.
Pair this with the fact thatwe were there the week after the kiddies went back from school, so the place was empty, we had one of the largest ski areas in the world, amazing powder and conditions EVERY day, and hardly anyone there. This was bound to be a good trip.
but anyway, vallandry is awesome, its not the busiest place you will ever visit but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. Bar mont blanc and the flying squirrel are both awesome places (some of the shots as the squirrel are actually disgusting (think marmite, fish etc etc) and bar mont blanc had pool tournaments, live music etc There is enough to keep you occupied or you really arent too far from the clubs at les arcs (a pissed walk home is always a laugh anyway.
We stayed at the main hucksters hotel which was right between TSD vallandry and the grizzly lift, ideal location at a quality place. Just go to vallandry, its ace and you wont regret it!
Strengths
Being linked into the Paradiski area, but not located in les arcs itself so tends to be cheaper/better value for money
Hot Spots
Off piste! Both the tree runs and steep drops situated between the "Derby" lift and the "Grizzly" lift. And the open powder bowls between "Col de la Chal" and "Plagettes 36". Infact, its all good
Weaknesses
Little bit of a walk to get to the main area of les arcs but who cares

Vallandry is on the quieter, more tree line side of Les Arcs, at the centre of Paradisksi resort area. It is the opposite lift for the Vanoise Express, joining Les Arcs to La Plagne.

The village is small and quiet, with a Sherpa, a few bars, and the usual amenities such as doctors, ski school etc. there are other bars in the town, and on chef's night off the resto's can be busy - book early. It is served by the Grizzly and 74 lifts, with the main runs Aigle, Morey and Myrtilles leading back to the resort.

At this point in time, there is a LOT of building work going on in the Mont Blanc hotel area, which will undoubtedly change the character of the resort.

There are a few apparement blocks, but is predominately chalets and is quite pretty to look at.
Strengths
Good lift system linking it to the Les Arcs ski area
Good assortment of runs
Nice runs back in the evening either pisted, or through the trees.
Very quiet runs with a goos variety, and are very clearly marked.
Good condition runs to the resort, ven at the end of the day.
Absolutely definitely board in, board out. all it needs is someone to hold the door to the corridor open.
Electronic lift pass system.
Hot Spots
Bar Mont Blanc - Seasonaires night - Decent curry, shot and pint for €10
Snack Shack outside Bar Mont Blanc
Sport 2000 - 20€ board service edge/wax including glued repair to ptex.
Weaknesses
Can get busy on the 74 lift at lunchtime and the end of the day
Some runs are overstated as reds - as an idea, there are no greens in the resort.
A few forest roads to contend with in order to get back from Arc 1800 if you chose not to use the 69.
