What can I say about this trip. It couldn't have been better. From the moment I arrived I was made feel welcome with a glass of Champagne and an introduction to my fellow guests. Si and Charlie who look after the Loft, cook the most amazing food avery night and are always up for a night out or a days boarding. Jon and Sam are great too. Sam makes you feel so exited about averything from going out boarding in the freash powder to having a few drinks at the end of the day. Jon is a superb guide around the mountain, he knows all the best spots for freash powder and amazing runs, although watch out for his guidence when your about to jump of a cliff, everything is a 4ft drop as far as he is conserned, he may have some dept perception issues. The Loft itself is made feel like a second home. The huge LCD TV is there to watch movies and snowboarding DVD's whenever you want, and there is always plently of beer and wine to go around while your sitting back and relaxing. Our snowboarding instructor for the week was Lauron. He is a great instructor, always pushing you to jump higher and go faster and he left me going home with a few tricks up my sleave and confidense to try new tricks weather in the park or on/off piste. Highlights for the week were the backcountry day, doing tricks in the stash and my first experience in powder. All in all this was an amazing trip and I look forward to returning next year. |

More Mountain is great - I recommend staying with these guys.
I went out the week before Christmas, on my own and was made to feel extremely welcome.Jon and Sam (as well as Si and Charlie - the couple that run the other Chalet (The Loft)), showed me around the slopes on my first day, with another guest that was there. It was great, a real ice breaker, as well as a great chance to learn where the good runs were.
The Chalet (Chalet Robin) really is luxurious. It has everything you could possibly want on a snowboarding holiday - Good Rooms,iPods, Walkie Talkies, Hot Tub, flowing wine/beer, DVD's, TV's and a comfy lounge.
There is something for everyone. Want a stay in at nights? Put on the TV and watch a few DVD's after dinner, or if your more into going at night, the bars are just a short stroll away.
What made the Chalet for me was Jon and Sam. The enthusiasm for what their doing is contagious, you can't help but feel good about being out in the mountains. They'll also go the extra mile to help there guests along, with rides to the lifts in the morning and if they've got time they'll come out boarding with you.
Now for the food - It's fantastic, none of the rushed out, batch made food that you get in some Chalets. It's not pretentious either - it's great tasting, well presented food that anybody would have a hard time picking fault will.
Theres nothing bad I can say about More Mountian. I had a great week and would definatly go back again. |

The Chalet - this place just keeps getting better, Sam and Jon have formulated a cracking recipe for simply the best trip you can have with a level of attention to detail i have seldom found previously in 10 years of chalet trips. Ok so its got the usual that you would expect superb home cooked cuisine, fantastic interior with cosy chillout area, great veiws from the dining area, but usually thats where it stops, we have all had that. No this is just the beginning, you see Sam and Jon have been there and done it, they know what riders want, radios and ipods ready to go, garage space to tune your board, great tunes on the go when you get in from riding.
The people - As i said Sam and Jon are riders and they just want to you to share with them their dream of living in the mountains, real people, real friends. Give them a call you wil be infected by Sams enthusiasm, to her snowboarding is a cult religion not just a pastime, i will have some of that thanks. Respect to them for living the dream and making such a damn fine job of it.
Now my rant - 10 years of Cry*tal,Tho*mpson and the rest of the `big players` who want to have their cake and eat it. I have spent thousands to find myself with Chalet hosts under 20 on a gap year who flew out last week because the last lot did a runner and sitting at the table with 14 Hoo Haa volvo driving 1 piece 80s suit wearing we ride the pipe too you know and skiers can go faster brigade. Never again its all blag blag blag.
No no no more, heading to Morzine for my third trip Jan 08 and i cant wait because i know exactly what i am getting for my hard earned cash and i wont be disappointed. They say nothing in life is guranteed, i beg to differ

p.s cracking new website guys, good effort, cant wait to see you both again |

Just got back from a very special week at moremountain morzine . An incrediable place to stay with penthouse luxury . Flat screen tvs , leather sofas , personal DVD players , walki talkis with your own channel , ipods , and a sound sysytem with all the Itunes . Samis cooking was amazing , watch out Gordon and Jamie this girl could take you on for personality and cooking !!!!! Our hosts Jon and Sam were great getting all the passes and lessons organised before arrival making sure we got to the right places on time and in one piece . Jon the demon boarder took us out riding , my feet were on fire trying to stay with him and in the end I gave up with the pain ! He showed us all the good runs and kickers and as there wasn't much snow, he repaired my board in the evening supplying all the tools and wax . An awesome week with awesome people ! |
|
| Strengths |
Food , facilities , Jon and Sam . Jon made two trips to the hospital in one evening when a friend broke his wrist and had a suspected brocken back. All in his own time . The chalet is the best I have stayed in 10 years of boarding in North America and Europe . |
|
| Weaknesses |
| Needed more snow . The guys are good but not that good ! Would have liked to seen a snow dance organised after dinner ! |
