Dainese - Wave Back Protector 05/06

   4.5 of 5  (1 review)
Description
WAVE is a fourth-generation back protector by D-TEC®, the culmination of a long journey that started in the 1970s with Barry Sheene and still continues today with Valentino Rossi and a whole host of great motor-racing champions. With Wave, D-TEC® has set new standards in both protection and comfort: Wave has an innovative corrugated structure with greater mechanical resistance than the previous versions, yet is exactly the same weight, plus a brand new ventilation system. The waist joint, introduced with Back Space, has been kept as it enables the protector to follow the torso’s lateral movements.

Review Detail
Following some rail experience I decided it was time to purchase back protection, after reading lots of information on the web I decided that my choice came down to the TPro Forcefield or the Dainese Wave. The Forcefield is multi-use and boasts an impressive spec. While the Dainese has some of the best Moto GP riders in the world riding with it (including Rossi).
In the end I decided the only way to choose between the two was to go to my local stockist and try them both on.
I found the Dainese to be light, very snug fitting and comfortable... I bought the Large as it fitted me the best (5'11" 32" waist). The Forcefield on the other hand was a bit heavy and felt like a plank of wood attached to your back.
Strengths
Light
Snug Fit
Full back protection
Weaknesses
Single use (If you've had a big hit)
Quite expensive (but your back is worth it)
Similar Body Armour Used
Knox, Forcefield
