Bought these having had a much older driver X which was comfy but the ankles of which started giving out afer 3 years (not too bad in my opinion). the new ones were stiffer and the zonal quick lacing system is soooo convienient. Can really tighten the boot up with little or no slipping.
Only problem is arch pain which i got with my old boots anyway so it's pobably more to do with me than the boots!
Strengths
great lacing system
tight & responsive
Weaknesses
foot pain

Review Detail
Having seen these boots receive something of a slagging from seasonaires on here that thought they were too firm, I was a little worried about how things were going to pan out, especially since my first trip Burton Mottos were now about as supportive as carpet slippers (tho to be fair as comfy too).

I am purely a mountain rider who heads straight for the powder as soon as it dumps but has too many recurring injuries from thirty odd years of silly hobbies to risk any more harm in the park. I also spend most of my time riding with a very fast and impatient skier girlfriend, so no room for messed up turns.

Consequently, I absolutely love these Driver X's - they are incredibly firm and use the Burton zonal lacing system so can be cranked up to ride stiffness very quickly. They carve like a dream and gave me masses of confidence as mrs dants and I hurtled around the slopes of Chamonix. There edge holding was an absolute revelation, so much so that I've now ditched the idea of trading my board in for a magne traction model and am going to hang in there for another season at least.

Love 'em
Strengths
Comfortable, responsive, great for holding edges, had no trouble walking long distances in them either. Very, very firm
Weaknesses
Very very firm! Not an ideal first boot.
