Well these are my first pair of straps so I was a bit aprehensive! My previous bindings where Flows-Pro S, and before that Switch Step Ins! Loved both of them but when the Boa packed up on my Vans Contras I got a pair of K2 - T1's. The reason I had to eventually change bindings from Flows was that the K2 was a lot slimmer boot when compared to the chunky Cotra, and I found I was getting alot of heel slip, (side to side.) So the new bindings came about!
At first I was after the Burton Cartels, but they where all sold out so I opted for the P60.
These being my first set of straps it took me a while to get used to them and to set them up. That said they are really easy to set up once you know what to do. My problem was I kept tightening the straps to much and got foot cramp! Not much fun! Eventually figured it out, also the highback is quite high and it was biting into my calf as I don't ride with my legs that bent unless I'm flying! The back stop on the high back is not the clip type, its on a screw so its very secure, and doesn't take that long to adjust. Once set up you're ready to ride!
The bindings HALVED the weight of my prevoius setup. Burton Custom and Flow Pro - S. The bindings are stiff and therefore super responsive. Haven't had any problems with them yet! The highback is padded as is the base plate, and if you're using the burton 3-hole disc, so is the disc! The Cap Straps are really comfy and you don't have to really crank them as tight as you can. |

| Strengths |
Light, really really light!
Cap Straps, nice and comfy!
Padded highback and base plate!
Good ratchet and easily adjusted straps. (Length)
Good solid stop on the highback |
|
| Weaknesses |
Price I guess, if I had bought these at the begining of the year they would have been CAD$ 530!
Also although the highback is good for riding, when you fold it down it hangs way over the edge of my board, which is annoying when in the lift que! |

Since my C14s gave up the ghost I've had sleepless nights and countless emails to and from Burton, but finally it paid off when I got the letter from Burton telling me to pick up my new C60s that they had sent to my local Snow + Rock.
Although more sleepless nights came as the excitement grew for the time of testing these most almighty bling bindings in Cervinia last week!
I have to compare them to my old C14s. There isn't that smell of real leather that the C14s had but the C60s are considerably lighter than the C14s - and they weren't heavy to begin with. Add to the lack of weight, the fact that they are super stiff, and you can imagine the type of ride you get... yeah, lightning fast response. Although my C14s were well comfy (nice soft Italian leather straps) the C60s have upped the ante with a beautifully moulded ankle strap and the now legendary Capstrap™. No more pressure across the top of your toes, the Capstrap™ makes sure your boot is firmly placed in the binding. It pulls the boot right in to the heel cup and doesn't let go of your toes either. I'm not too sure how well the Capstraps™ will fit other types of boot, but they fit my Burton SL6 boots perfectly. I did used to suffer from a bit of foot cramp occasionally, but the Capstrap™ technology has completely eliminated that. The buckles do up and undo like they're permanently greased with Johnson's Baby Oil! There are all the usual adjustments to make and they're easy to set-up with a tool. They really are a pleasure to ride in, mounted to my '03 Canyon, the pair work well together for a fast, highly responsive, super bling ride! Although the bling does appear to chip and scratch easily, especially the red ones that I've got. The black C14s I had were a bit hardier on that front.
All in all, Burton has come up with an absolutely beautiful binding albeit with a hefty price tag, which thankfully, I didn't have to pay... If you can afford them then don't hesitate to get them, otherwise I'd go for the Cartels instead, which come with even more bling, but a nicer price tag. |
