| A brilliant back-pack, plenty of space for everything inside, the board carrier works well and the board won't slip like on some others i've used.. Masses of lumbar support in there too.. The back is well padded. Integrated water carrier pocket works well but theres no hook at the top to hook a bag too. Good tool spaces for probe and shovel's, Very comfortable to wear. |

Board Carrier works superbly. Cheap. |
|
| Weaknesses |
| No internal top hook for water bag's that need one.. I ahd to make one myself. |

My first pack and it does everything I need. Carries all the water, food, tools, layers you'll need on the hill and it can be kept so slim (tighten the board carrying straps when not in use to reduce volume) I've only had to take it off once when getting on a chair lift (when someone fell off a short while in front of me and the lifties got a little too serious !). I can still ram it full with 5kg of stuff for the airport trip, but it is tight.
Excellent straps to keep it tied down tight and the generous padding on the back keeps you warm and, I like to think, a little bit more protected.
The vertical board carrying is quick & easy so I use it quite a lot, saves cutting up another pair of gloves and is very nice on the walks back home.
Get a platypus for £15 and pop it in the back, I can't believe mine's never burst. Shove the tube out of the hole and clip it on the shoulder strap if you want to watch it freeze (if your tube's not insulated!).
More pockets inside would be nice so that everything doesn't collect at the bottom and sit inbetween your back and the chair lift, still not much of an issue though.

| In the past I've used cheap, bulky backpacks to carry stuff while riding, but I've always found that it has put me slightly off balance and felt uncomfortable. So, this season I felt I should invest in a more specific pack for use while riding. I wanted something slim line, but with enough space for the essentials for a days riding. The AK Summit pack is perfect in all these ways. Very slim line, so no balancing issues. Lots of space for an extra layer, hip flask, sandwich, bottle of Lucozade, camera, binoculars and a mp3 player. It also has a vertical board-carrying strap, but I haven't used that. It has the usual straps plus one that goes around your waist for extra security. It also has an attachment for your two-way radio to clip on to the strap so that it is near your mouth. All in all it is very comfortable to wear. It feels secure and doesn't interfere with your riding. Perfect. |
