Boarding Skool programme one is the official B.A.S.I and B.S.A snowboard teaching video. It starts off with two complete novices being instructed by Becci Malthouse (6 times national champion / B.A.S.I. snowboard trainer), from their first slide via various exercises through to conventional turns. Sections include Scooting, Side Slipping, Falling-Leaf, Garlands, Conventional Turns / Linking Turns. Each section is explained quite clearly and this helped by the use of Freeze-Frame and Slo-Mo.
After the above sections, it goes on show how you can improve your technique, carving turns, coping with tricky terrain and snow conditions, safety on the mountain and shows how to get the best from your equipment. The varying board styles are explained and they run through the different binding angle/distance set-ups you could use, highlighting the advantages/disadvantages for each.
Becci also gives a few pointers for riding off-piste in the ''soft-stuff''.
The video runs for around 90 minutes and on the whole I think covers most areas very well. Certainly a ''must buy'' for anyone new to the sport, and I would imagine quite helpful to some average/intermediate boarders that could do with maybe polishing up on their technique. |
