Amped (X-Box)

   4.43 of 5  (7 reviews)
Description
Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding ditches the conventional racing modes of other snowboarding games and instead focuses on freestyle action--in other words, executing tricks with style. The excellent trick system and accurate physics make for tight gameplay across the board. The game sports a robust career mode as well as quick start and multiplayer modes.

This is a great game with huge levels with jumps and rails everywhere. You create you rider male or female and then kit them out with gear(03/04 stuff) and then start at 250th and as you progress by point scores tricks finding steezy etc you go up in rankings. I am 81st and starting to find it hard.
Strengths
Big levels, Ride as Pros, Lots to do, Realistic, Great music,
Weaknesses
Some bits are really hard.

amped,
it does exactly what is asays on the box, its a good waste of a few hours of anyones time, the graphics are very good, the control system is great, sounds and sound track are excellent, the ability to add your own music is great, i have now completed most of the game and just nead to beat the last pros. this is where the game falls down they are soo hard to beat and the voice overs just get on your nerves so i cannot play for too long without having a tantrum. apart from that a two player split screen would have been good.
Strengths
graphics
playability
sound
control
Weaknesses
bloody annoying, mocking pros

Okay well, as I anticipate the release of the sequel; I've been playing the first Amped increasedly so.

The graphics are still really good and is the only game that get's close to the atmosphere of really riding the mountain. There is so much gameplay to be had. I've owned the game since day one and haven't done all there is to do in the game.

Though this may because of the downside's it has. The game can be a bit clunky in that the collision detection can be a bit wacky. The only other downside is the menu screen's can be a pain in the a*se to navigate thru.

These neg's aren't enough to keep me away from the game however, and slapping some of your fave ridin tunes on at the same time you can have a real good 10 minute blast to unwind after work !

HIghly recommended - especially for a tenner as you can from eBay etc...
Strengths
Graphics, atmos/sound, custom soundtracks, realistic game. The best snowboard game I've ever played - roll on Amped 2...
Weaknesses
clunky collisions, menu system and a few frustratingly difficult challenges

This game is truly beautiful. Even if it possessed the worst gameplay in creation it would be worth having for the looks. Everything you would see on a real mountain is there in wonderful detail. The variety of terrain is also astounding from tree lined runs to open glaciers. The attention to detail also extends to the different types of snow you ride upon. Pow, packed piste and nasty ice are all there and behave differently. Real pros are there in the game as well as a huge range of real equipment and clothing from top manufacturers and actually make a difference to your riding. But it's not all visual. The gameplay is also above par with simple to learn controls covering steering, airs, jibbing and grabs. That is not to say the game is easy, on the contrary it has imense depth and poses a lasting challenge to climb the rankings through points, media and pro challenges. Simply put, the best snowboarding game you can find anywhere. Can't wait to see how they best it with the sequel.
Strengths
Gorgeous to look at Intuitive to play Real kit Real pros Good music and lots of it
Weaknesses
Possibly a bit too much of a challenge as its brick hard later on

I have to say that this game is what I have been waiting for. I basically bought an Xbox just so I could play it. The Xbox is fast becoming the snowboarders choice of console with the release of Transworld Snowboarding too. I have to say this is a truly excellent game, really well thought out. It's not ultra realistic, you can still do daft stuff like railslide lift cables etc but on the whole it's as close as you'll get in any game.

There aren't many levels but you can go explore a whole lot of terrain that varies greatly and is also very realistic. The basic idea is to beat certain scores to increase your skill level in a number of areas. You also have to pull tricks infront of the assembled paparazzi to get exposure which leads to tryouts for real sponsors which give you more clothes and boards etc which actually increase/decrease your skills in each area instead of just being nice to look at. This gets you further up the world rankings and opens up new levels and pro challenges where you have to out trick the pro's in a one on one showdown.

One of my favourite aspects is that as you progress you still have to go back to earlier levels and complete new challeneges which adds to the longevity of the game. I also have to highly recommend this game to any fan of underground rock/emo/hardcore music, the soundtrack contains tracks from bands such as Thursday, Waterdown, Earth Crisis, Drowningman and more, plus you can add your own tracks too. Basically this game rules.
Strengths
The most realistic snowboarding game out there at the moment.
The soundtrack rules, many of the coolest emo/hardcore bands around on it.
Real boards/bindings that make a difference
Weaknesses
Few more resorts would've been better
