We saw makaks in Japan - but they were relaxing by a hot tub at the time, not actually on-piste

Yep good thinking, "funny" thing was when I was there in Chiba two guys were showing me a plot of land where they were going to build a house near some water with long grass, we walked down into the grass with this guys dog jumping around, and then he said, oh by the way there are deadly snakes in here.... and if they bite you've got fourty minutes to live! (if I remember right) and it's two hours to the hospital.... I quietly freaked, and walked away. He wasn't joking. |

| true - you don't assoicate any reptiles with snow... that said, Sping in Japan comes on quick, and the snakes come out of hibernation before all the snow has melted, and this little guy just happened to be taking a little "walk" across a patch of snow... not sure what speicies it was though, didn't want to examine it as there's a couple of deadly poisonous snakes in Japan. |

Interesting, you just don't really associate snakes and snow.... not sure what type of snake chorlton was on about though |

| Seen plenty of monkeys (and feral dogs) on the slopes in Kashmir (see pics here: Ski & Snowboard Gulmarg Kashmir), and have also seen a snake slithering across a patch of snow in a tiny ski resort in Japan (though this was after the resort had closed). |

I saw something similar in Silver Star. A bear walking on two feet. Couldn't believe my eyes! And then it waved!
