The European ones have improved quite a bit. You can now see the apartment block in Champery where our apartment is and how close it is to the station and teleripherique.

haven't looked at many others (hence the post) but sauze d'oulx's got gr8 res as you can see from the link in my original post. i could see where we dropped in on the far side of the mountain, to the side of the unused poma, underneath the avalanche control barriers and visible from the one man chair going to sestrierre... or here , basically we started up and to the left of the v shape created by the mountain ridge, in the sunlight and dropped into the shadowy area. it was untouched and we went back again and again. if you zoom in close enough you can see the avalanche barriers where we started... or just look here.

you ride down and come over the top of the ridge and drop into the little bowl here too

Is the resolution in Europe still a bit crap? When Google Earth first came out I remember looking at Whistler and though it was cool but Europe you couldn't really make anything out.

If you download the actual application you can tilt your view too and since the resolution is decent at Whistler you can see all the different ridges and valleys in 3d. Pretty cool.

Facinating to see the size of terrain you actually cover

i found the sat image of whistler on google maps when responding to another post... it'd be cool if you can get a link to a google maps ssat image to your fave resort

cool thing about the whistler sat image is its photographed out of season

do that whole each new post adds a new resort to the list thing, here's mine again on its own and sauze d'oulx for good measure (which if you scroll around also has sestrierre, mont genevre, claviere etc, in the local vicinity)
