Hi I used to live on the East Coast. (Now Colorado) My favorite is Sugarloaf. The Loaf is farther away, colder, less crowded and has a big variety of terrain. (I guess no farther than Stowe) Very friendly laid back place. The weather in New England can really vary. Especially early and late season. I am not a big fan of Killington either. |

yeah i like the East coast - I've done killington twice, stowe, sugarbush and was in tremblent a couple of years ago
when ever i have been i have always been real lucky with the weather except the year when i went to sugarbush then it was crap for the first 10 days but had an epic end to the holiday with 4 powder days on the trot
out of al of the resorts though my favorite is sugarbush - it had such a good feel to the place - really friendly staff and a really relaxed uncrowded place to be |

I have not been to sugarbush in a long time so could not tell you whatsit like these days. The new owners at K are SP Land and Powdr Corp
There had installed a new lift this year on Bear mountain and make quite a few changes to some of the trails. One of the big problems in the past was the trail 'Great Eastern' which was a green and cut across alot of other trails. This has now been changed to try and make the other trails better.
Have you been to the east coast before. The riding here is a lot different than out west (less powder). It can get very cold and icy on the mountain, as I say last year was a lotter better as they go rid of the cheap season pass that brought all the crowds so the trails did not get as hammered as previous years. |

Killington is my home mountain, I moved to the US about 8 years ago from the UK. Just got my season pass throught the post this week.
Like everyone says K is a big mountain and was a lot better last year due to smaller crowds after the new owners took over. They have also just built the Burton Stash this year that is a natural terrain park "Look good". I love Jay Peak but if you are not into glades 'I am' the mountain can be a bit boring, whenever there is a big dump we always head up to Jay.
The nightlife around K is not that good, I can not speak for stowe as I have only done day trips. If you want any info let us know.

| Stowe is a really good resort spread over 2 main mountains. Enjoyed it and got some bargains in CherryBone. |

As Tom says look at Stowe especially if you are only doing 5 days - also look at Sugarbush - much friendlier resort than Killington and the only 1 out of the 3 that i have been to that i want to go to again
Killington is big, but there is no real town, it has lots of bars and resteraunts spread out so you have to drive every where. Stowe town is a real town but its about 4 miles or so from the hill, there is a free bus that picks up in teh town or like everywhere in amaerica there is a fooking huge car park by the main lift station
where ever you go it will be cold in Jan and Feb s plenty of layers
If you never have been to the US boarding before be prepared to find NO lift queues friendly lifties who say have a nice day and mean it, well groomed runs and a decent park
Never been to NY but Boston is a nice place to visit loads to do and see, would guess that NY has more though although it must be another 4 hours done the road from Boston |

| Don't bother with K-mart, try Stowe or Jay instead |
