Hi Lolly,
I think he's a little bigger than Katie so I would say go for the 130 in order to get a bit more use - saying that kids boards seem to hold their prices reasonably on ebay (compared to the purchase price you'll be getting the true for) so if he is more used to 120's (and preferes the colour which is the most critical part ) then you're not going to be losing a great deal value wise on the board if he would like a 120.
If you find a bargain one of ebay grab it but I would say if you knock of shipping value the sale price of a true board is about £90 so bear that in mind.
Let me know if you want any more info. |

dont know if these are any good lolly?
Kids bindings
they have a package that looks cool, however the board is too big at 140 i think, but these bindings on a "true" board might be the option??

ah, not too keen on flow bindings and i think he'll feel like the "odd one out" as most other kids he rides with have the usual straps.
thanks all the same! |

We tried straps for our daughter who was six when she started but found it easier with Flows she manages to clip herself in a lot quicker. Got them on the US ebay for around £30. Her old board will be going on ebay but I doubt your Bro would appreciate the fairy logo with pink graphics lol |

wow! thx s4xoslut!!! a winner for the colour of the snowbaords too - his fav colours are yellow and blue he's used 120's a lot when he hires boards but i worry that he'll grow out of it quickly, but also worried that a 130 maybe too big! what do u think? he weighs 5.5st and is 4ft5....he's a diddy 10yr old! |

thanks tekilla but my prob lies in the fact he will need anything between a 120-130. he's used pretty much everything in between that range and i don't rele wanna get him a 120 which is pretty much all i can find on ebay or anything way above 130.
aww, sucks that does NickE, was hoping it was in the UK. have found a salomon fierce for £85 and salomon team bindings for £40 so i guess it's not too bad |

| Get on eBay - there's usually loads of kids stuff at this time of year when rich parents buy it for young kids who hate (or can't) snowboard. |

The problem with buying a board at that age, is they’re growing so fast it’s probably only going to be the right size for one season. Unless they go a lot, it’s probably not worth it.
I did buy a board for my 10 year old this year, but it was a dirt cheap end of season price and I’m hoping that he’ll get 3 weeks out of it next winter, which will make it worthwhile. It’s a bit big for him now, although he did try it out on our last day and seemed fine.
It has to said though, that however much use he gets out of it, he gets a lot of pleasure just from having his own board which sits in pride of place next to his bed. |

If he's only going to the domes then i would say stick to hire gear at the moment if he's getting on with it OK
I bought my daughter a set up a few months back, she normally skis but has started to board but found found that the cost to keep hiring board boots and bindings really expensive when doing it for an odd day at a time especially when after 2 hours she's decided she's had enough.
If you are going to buy then -
I found the burton entry level gear OK and found some boots for about £40.00 look out for the Burton boots as they state that there boots can be "adjusted" to allow for growth - I am not sure how this works as we couldn't find any in my daughters size range at the time.
with regards to bindings the burton freestyle jnr and custom jnr go up to US6 which is UK 5 |

hey! my lil bro is 10 and he's just started snowboarding (my influence of course! lol)
he's passed his level 1&2 lessons at MK xscape, had an open practice on a dryslope and yesterday we went and had a session at MK for a couple hours in which he taught himself to ollie & nollie, link turns and try a little jump - why couldn't i learn that fast?!?!! anyways, he's pleaded my mum to get him a setup for his birthday in may. mum has said yes but left me to do the scouring on the web! i've looked at a few - burton chopper, salomon fierce but the bindings are what are throwing me. most kids bindings say they only go up to size 3 foot and he's size 4 but i'm pretty sure all the ones on the hire boards are kids bindings and his boots fit fine on them.
what does everyone think? should he continue to hire boards or get his own setup? |
