I was in Niseko last year
My advice is to fly to Tokyo or any of the major international airports (be warned there are 2 in tokyo about 2 hour drive apart)...and then take an internal flight.
Internal flights are dirt cheap - as far as I remember my return flight between tokyo and sapporo was aroung the 50 pound mark. And (usually) doesn't cost anything to change them). There are then good coach connections to the various Niseko resorts.
Also you can buy "books" of internal flight tickets for next to nothing, but that has to be done before entering Japan. |

Jib,
Just checked out emirates and they do a return flight to Nagayo from Newcastle (Via Dubai) for £555. Cheapest i found before that was about £670 from london with Virgin. Good spot! Looking to head out for about 3 weeks in December. Buzz. Good luck with the Job application btw

You can find some good travel info here: http://www.japantravelinfo.com/plan/transportation.php
The long distance buses are really good - only 3 rows of seats, almost fully recliing.
I've take the Ferry from Fukui to Hokkaido, and Niigata to Hokkaido - takes about 20 hours and is a wicked experience.
In the summer there is even a hot tub on deck. |

Buy.
I paid more than that one way to Oaska.
Osaka or Nagoya to Sapporo is approx. 100 quid r/t with JAL or ANA. |

you guys got any sites that youd reccomend ? i can find flights to get to the country just not ones to get to and then go to anotehr internal aiport.
i can get a open ticket with emirates between august and november this year with a return anytime from the year i travel for bout 450 pounds which isnt to bad bout 150-200 cheaper than going to tokyo. thats to nagoya osaka is a little more but not alot.
just wondering bout the flights from whever i fly to hokkaido or even train ferrie which is an option i would definetly consider. |

| Don't forget you can also get trains and ferries up to Hokkaido - which may take a little longer, but it's a cool trip to do if you've got the time... |

UK to Osaka or Nagoya and then on to Sapporo tends to be cheaper than going through Tokyo. Plus you don't have to change airports which is a pain in the a*se.
PM me about who you intend working for. I may have worked for them this season and last. |

If you do that you might still be able to get a fare to Sapporo which allows a stopover in Tokyo. Or for the separate internal flight option have you checked whether Japan has any low cost carriers ? |

It is nearly always cheaper to get through flights, rather than have separate international and internals. A lot actually go in to Osaka and on to Sapporo from there. Check out what dates the fares change (usually go up around 10th December to Asia) to make sure you are getting the best price.
Also bear in mind (depending on your timing) the tour operators will have charter flights going, so you can try to grab a seat from them.
Hope that helps a bit.
