QUOTE (Grill - 08/08/2008 @ 17:12:57) Since it seems as though you spend most of your time on the piste, I'd get a hard charging board. If I were you I'd save some money (maybe spend it on better boots or binders). The Atomic Dreamraider is amazing on and off piste and handles the occasional kicker without a problem. If you can't find one then I'd take a look at the Salomon Burner, Never Summer Titan or Summit, or an old Ride Timeless or No4. grill knows it. 1) he/she is correct calling binders binders. 2) i reckon a less expensive custom x type thing might suit...maybe a slightly toned down version... a demo version of last seasons custom for the cheapnesses?? Actually scratch that... i cant bring myself to recommend a Burton board. oh and 3) buy one you like th elook of. Graphics are important and people who say differently are big fat monkey liers. |

I can recommend a board for you, as it is the one I have.
Rome Solution.
It has helped me progress no end and I love it, even though the model/year I have means the top is orange. Great board for a low intermediate looking for a board to progress on.

Erazer, word to the wise, as you work for a Snowboard retailer it's gonna be tricky for you to appear impartial especially if you appear to only plug the gear that you guys sell.
I don't doubt the validity of your advice and I'm personnaly a fan of bargain boards but why not put your website address in your signature and maybe say something like "Hi, I work for BB, we sell the following which would be a good alternative blah blah etc", comes across alot better I feel and doesn't appear as underhand (not suggesting thats your intention but thats how it sounds).
Read some of slingers posts (he works for Blue tomato) his approach to reccomendation is a lot more open and people respect his opinion for it.
Don't want to patronise you but at the moment I think you're turning people off Bargain Boards... |

| Same here, don't touch the Custom X till you're high intermediate/advanced. Can hamper rather than help progression. |

QUOTE (powderjunkie - 08/08/2008 @ 14:35:41) hmmmm........ no1 keen on burton here then.... well any suggestions? 1. How long have you been riding/how capable are you on a board? emm riding 2years, i would say im just about intermediate....but i want a board to grow into and to push me forward though 2. What sort of riding do you like to do? normal? maybe occasionally off piste... no park crazyness.... 3. How much do you weigh? 9.5stone 4. What size feet do you have? size8 5. How much are you looking to spend (I assume a lot)? emmm prob round £400 any advice/suggestions appreciate. Ta. In that case dont touch one.
I rode a custom X a few years back, 158, yeah it would rip on the piste in a straight line, but like you i thought it would help progress my riding. I was wrong. I found it a very hard board to flex and steer correctly which made life difficult.
If you are going to get one, then please at least ride one first. |

Plug my a*se, i've ridden all 4 of those boards, and i'd all rate them as similar spec, just cos i work for a snowboarding company, obviously that means i can't have an honest opinion. |

if you're not bothered about the season, you can get alot of the 07/08 (last season gear) at like 30-50% off the RRP, which is what i would say is the best bet, that way you can get a much better board for you money, or use the extra cash for Beer!!! I'd have a look at the Palmer Burn (very similar in all ways to the Custom), Flow Infinate WX, Option Vinson, or maybe the Palmer Carbon Circle. All are excellent boards, and are under £400 quid if you know where to look |

You're being silly.
Some like the Custom X. I think it's over-priced and incredibly weak (seen over 20 broken in past few seasons).
Let's find you a real board. 1. How long have you been riding/how capable are you on a board? 2. What sort of riding do you like to do? 3. How much do you weigh? 4. What size feet do you have? 5. How much are you looking to spend (I assume a lot)? |
