| at that time of the year you have got to go high altitude to get any decent conditions, we went to livigno in italy this christmas and the snow was great, and because its is xmas there are some pretty good deals we paid about 450 each. |

Andorra in December is pretty icy.... mind you in my experience it is in January, February and March, there is good snow making facilities though (but that dont stop the ice!) its good fun in Andorra what ever the weather so dont be deterred by the ice!
A good hotel in Soldeu is Hotel Soldeu Maistre and your riding distance from Pas here too! |

| Pas has brilliant snow making facilities but like everyone else has said it's very unreliable early on - I did a few days after Xmas 06 and it was reliant on the cannons and the time before I went (Feb 04) it was likewise patchy. In the grand scheme of things it's pretty low altitude. The plus side to this unreliability is that you probably won't have much trouble getting a last minute deal if it does dump. Pas is party central so between this and it's lack of reliability I can't imaging it getting booked up early by the family market. |

Read a recent article about Snowboarding in Pas De La Casa Andorra here. Sounds like they had a pretty good time, although they went later in the season.
I have been to Pas over xmas - and we had a great time. That was some 10 years ago now though. |

Yeah I went Pas de la Casa in Jan 07 and it was really icy and the whole place was only open due to the snow cannons, a lot of runs were closed. Although that season was the worst they have ever had snow wise (so they told me). It's a pretty good resort though, the lift pass covers the whole Grand Valira area which is pretty vast. Pas is a really lively resort lots of cool bars and it's really cheep which for me proved a bad thing as I missed a couple of days boarding due to severe hangovers. If I was to go again I would go later on maybe late feb time or March and would study the snow reports as I was really dissapointed with the conditions and the riding was'nt that enjoyable. But if the snows good you will have a great time. |

December in Andorra is quite a risky time to go. Historically there is barely 10-20cm base on the ground, and that would likely be man-made, snow this thin goes very icy, and it wouldn't be very fun to board on.
December time you're better off looking at going to a higher resort in the Alps, possibly somewhere with a glacier too, if you want to guarantee yourself some good snow. Or splash out a bit more and head to Banff in Canada, they normally have plenty of snow in December |
