haha yeah luckily my trip to mk was after austria so i actually had the confidence to have fun... had a dance off with the boyfriend on the lifts haha!! slippng in a bit of the robot!! ! gripping with the legs...let go with your hands on and then laugh like crazy as your bf flails his arms trying to balance after nearly falling over halfway through a few mj moves!(tho i have had several comedy moments myself)
karate kid though...haha that is talented. |

QUOTE (PETE123 - 22/04/2008 @ 16:36:17) The trick I found was as these guys have mentioned....Left arm on the bar, right arm behind you inline with your board, keep your hips in line with the board, if you turn them in the direction of the hill it will turn your board onto the edge. Something that worked for me was to lean back slightly on your right leg, and relax, relax, relax. Yeah, I was in the same position too... I found the leaning back a bit to be the most useful at keeping me stable.... really does make it easier. |

| Dont hold on with both hands. If you do, you are twisting your upper body and your board will want to follow, throwing you of course/balance. Keep your shoulders in line with the lift. Keep a flat base, dont try to use your edges until youv'e really got the hang of it. |

I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago at the CFe. I read some of the threads on here and went for an early session when it was not so busy.

taught my lil bro how to use poma lifts on a dryslope which he fell off at least 20 times!! i know u can't do this at MK strictly speaking but at the dry slope i just unstrapped myself and guided him a little of the way up. his main prob was that he was twisting his hips towards the top of the slope. keep them failrly straight and one arm flung behind u helps too. don't grip the lift with your thighs/legs, just relax and let it pull u. i think it also helps to look at the slope/wall depending on your stance cos that gets your body in the natural board position, sort of. anyway, if you're still worried about it i'm sure the instructors there can/should help u out! after tons of practice on the dry slope my lil bro did it first time at MK last weekend, well done andy! |

QUOTE (nessyt - 22/04/2008 @ 11:26:24) really found it difficult going up with my left foot forward Its wierd cuz I thought I would be goofy but it turns out Im regular but going up the lift with my left foot forward felt wierd!! When I started learning I thought I was regular but changed to goofy half way through the week (found it really difficult to initiate turns with my left foot whilst had not problems leading with the right even though bound regular!). However having learnt to skate and use lifts regular I found it really difficult to change over and because of this I decided not to bother and just do them as if I was regular (although someone will probably say this is really bad now :o) |

make sure you keep your shoulders pretty much in line with the board to ensure your board rides up straight |

If I feel that my board is sliding all over the show, I tend to go on to my toe edge (use the heel if u prefer) so that it bites a little and goes in a straight line. This tends to make my legs hurt but is ok for the shorter lifts in the domes.
Relaxing is good advice for general boarding too. Helps u bend ur kneez and if u do fall it's better to be relaxed as u're less likely to hurt urself. |

QUOTE (Bobtastic - 22/04/2008 @ 11:33:08) I'll give u the usual advise with drag lifts. Brace your back leg against ur rear binding, keep ur weight central and BEND ZA KNEEEZ!! Having ur knees bent will mean that you can absorb and bumps and help keep ur balance, it's all good practice for normal riding as u should be doing that anyway. It's mostly practice with the drag lifts once u get use to them they are easy (but they still hurt like hell...). I've recently started to brace my back arm out on the bottom of the button and hold the bar against my side. I find that this hurts my legs less then having it dragging on the back of my lead leg. All of that and RELAX....by being nervous about it you tense up and straighten your legs and go all wobbly, also trust your board let it wander it'll always end up going in the direction you want. If you're at MK have a dance and a wiggle to the music that always helps!!! |
