It always worries me when Gb members start debating whos posts should stay and whos should be binned. Gb has always been open to all and between Starnz and the mods, it's well patrolled and maintained.
Anyone who feels they're qualified to make these decisions should start their own f*ckin site! I'm not interested in clique behaviour so if your problem is that you feel newbies are wasting your time and taking up your bandwidth with their clumsy videos and boring photos...f*ck off and start your own site!
Sorry if I'm ranting and dont take offence if you think this might be aimed at you, it just annoys me when people forget how they started.

Spot on djs, I've got a clip of me from my first trip away and still watch it and think it's awesome, despite the fact I'm side slipping (badly) at about 2mph.
I don't see a problem with uploading stuff like that (within reason) providing it's labelled that it's nothing especially special. I enjoy watching clips of 'normal' people riding more than the pro's in DVD's 'cos at least I know I can do what they're doing..
I don't think it's especially fair to single people out either, 'cos no one needs to justify themselves for putting snowboard photos/videos in a snowboard website's gallery. |

The thing with video clips is newbs are often so excited about their first week away they want to show everyone that they can stay on a board etc etc. So while it marks an achievement for them it can seem a little dull for other people. I remember after my first week i had a little clip of me coming down and thought it was the nuts. The same goes after somebody has hit their first kicker or rail and want to (rightly) show the world, even though to some people it will mean nothing.
The same applies to an extent with photos, but it doesn't matter quite the same as there is pretty much always something to look at and it wont take as much time to download.
I guess the main problem is these days everybody has a digi cam and can take photos, so the amount of crap available is massive. I few years back only a few people had digi cams so there was less rubbish to get put on display. |

Not bad, even without the search facility that was 16 minutes to seach 10,000 threads! :p
Video clips are an interesting one - the one where the guy falls over... you can look at his "style" and pick up pointers of what not to do.
Generally just take things as they come - I see who posts shite on a regular basis, and just ignore it. |

Perhaps you need to define 'merit' here mememe? I would agree to an extent about people not 'on the site' putting up photos but its certainly not an epidemic 
I've said before, I don't really read any of the reviews on here as I want to make up my own mind and find that too many simply list price, food was good, bars were crap blah blah blah. I want a feel for a place and only a handful of resort reviewers on here do that in my opinion. |

mememe, as widebeest says any photos which are uploaded to the site are checked by Starnzy before being put in the galleries.
Generally they are rejected when they are of too low a resolution or quality rather than what they show on them. |

Photo's get moderated as part of the process of uploading, so it's not such an issue. I quite like seeing some of the more whacky photo's, rather than the same sort of thing all the time.
Reviews go straight in, and then get moderated afterwards - if required. |

| Stuart, does the same apply for photo's? There have been loads of photo's and videos uploaded recently which do not seem to have any merit at all. Generally these are posted by people who don't seem to appear on the forum and seem to use GB as their photo album. I can't imagine this does the bandwidth figures any good at all. |

I agree totally Sinbad. We can get a lot of good info from the resort reviews. If people dont like a place then they should state the reasons why.
We do delete reviews that are of no benefit to any of us but some may stay on the site for a number of hours until we get a chance to see them ourselves. |

The resort review section is one of my favourite sections of the site, becasue I love reading about new places.
But what pisses me off - is that some people write utter sh*te.
The latest review of Les Arc 1800 is a typical example of this.
It tells us nothing about the resort what so ever. Why did this guy even bother?
It's fine if you didn't like the place - but at least tell us what was wrong with it, and give some details.
I think the GB powers that be should delete any review which is b*llocks.
