Try it in an icy pipe you'll really see the difference there! It's like cheating!

QUOTE (tekilla - 27/03/2008 @ 16:38:30)

Being a bit cynical about Magnetraction - I wonder if this does actually happen, or is it because you've bought an MTX board, that you're consciously expecting it to cut through ice like magic ?

Surely anyone with any board and razor sharp edges could ride the same conditions and not feel any different to MTX ?

I'm not disputing what people are saying but like I said, I'm a bit cynical. Surely if it was *that* great, every manufacturer would be producing something similar ?

i agree. i brought a trs mtx this season and riden it for only a max of 15 days this season. its a nice board, but i do think its more about the rider on the board then the magnetraction.
i've riden my DH with blunt edges for 100 days this season and had no problems.

I took the Lib Tech to castleford yesterday and spent a full day on it. The board is amazing. If you are looking to get one , just buy it you wont regret it. The cartels complemented it well and am mroe than happy with the setup. Its got just the right amount of flex for me, its fast, light and holds a great edge. Haven't tried it on ice yet but looking forward to it.

I have a two year old TRS 159 and a new snow mullet 165 that i have been using for the first time this week in stacks of powder in cham . Both have loads more grip than non-magne-traction boards but they don't quite "turn ice into powder"! THe mullet is fantastic in the powder and better on piste than i expected - rides really well switch too.

I had no problem doing the TRS's edges with a normal tool so I'm not sure why you'd need a specific one. In fact I have only done them once, there is so much grip i have left them blunt.

lil-b it was an awesome board to ride, in pow and on the groomed slopes

Wanted to buy one but they didnt have any in the shop so got the DK vertigo instead which equally rocks

cant wait to use it at Tam need to get there ASAP

As for setting back the bindings, i made the guy set it up the same as my Palmer for ease of my mind lol

nah man, most people set them like that to get some extra stance width, ive done that for as long as i can remember, also burton baseplates have a lifetime warranty so they shouldnt ever break.

never heard of this before, so basically, it's a normal board with wobbly edges?

I just tested the gnu bstreet for next year with magnetraction and it was seriously the best board ive ridden! (plus the graphics were amazing)I rode a 145 which is pretty short for me but i had so much fun. Was a bit dubious of the crazy edges at first but it was so solid, great on ice and slush, really felt stable. Got thrown around a bit to start with as it has a reverse camber too but you soon get the hang of it!!!

Mine are set along the length too, so I can get the stance width I want. My bindings have never had any problems being that way with cracking. The bindings adjust in themselves for toestrap and heel cup position so I can get the stance centered.

The only time I have had to alter it was when the Ride alu baseplate wouldn't line up with the holes on my Lib, so it had to be rotated.
I don't need to shout about what qualifications I have got and haven't got, I know I'm good!

Are you sure? I've always set mine up that way because I'm nicely certered toe to heel and like getting a bit of extra width out of my stance. How would having it off centre nose>tail cause problems that toe>heel wouldn't?

I was going to attempt sharpening the edges on my TRS before I go away in a week or so.....having not done this before. Can anyone offer any advice about things watch out for and do I need a Lib tech specific sharpening tool ?

I have looked through the 'search engine' but couldn't find anything specific to Lib tech boards...
