Bet that bottle of champers would cost alot more now.....................all the bulgarian resorts have gone up loads of ££££ beer is around £2.60 a pint and that the local sh*te....ok its still cheaper than many places in europe but the skiing/boarding is very limited
Bansko is looking like a buliding site at the mo,the place will be very busy once all the apartments are finished, and well you can imagine the ques for the slopes.

3 valleys in france are a very good bet,and the pistes are awesome with many kms to amuse yourself

Hi Annie

Jo is right - I reckon you would love Morzine/Avoriaz. It sounds like what you are after with a short transfer and great snow.

Give us a shout on the PM if you want to know more about the holidays we offer. We have some great weeks planned for next year.

Hi Annie

Morzine and the Portes du Soleil tick all your boxes and there are a few catered chalets who use GB regularly.
Just over an hour from Geneva. A wide variety of slopes (go somewhere you can take advantage of local knowledge to pick the best slopes for your group - it's so big you could easily miss a few gems) from gentle beginers to easily accessible, awesome off piste. You can ski all day and not do the same run twice. The runs up in Avoriaz, which is easily accessible, are snow sure (it snowed a couple of days ago!)
Morzine is a thriving town with plenty going on off the slopes and out of season.
There are lots of small chalet companies over here so you should easily find the right service at the right price from self catered through to luxury five star.

In General - but you can never be sure...
January is usually the cheapest, coldest, and maybe a bit icy most resorts.
March is warmer, usually sunny with occaisional dumps of snow but snow cover can be thin, especially early in the month when the slopes are still recovering from the half terms.
I've experienced awesome and rubbish conditions every month of the season so you really can't ever be sure.

Cheers
Jo

I too hated Bansko!

I would suggest if you want to go somewhere different try Canada. Its not as expensive as it sounds and the snow is usually way better than europe.

thanks for all your replies. I think i'll leave bulgaria then!!!!!!!!!!!! you said to be more specific so what we want is good snow, obviously can't guarentee that, not mega bucks, a few other things to do and desent range of slopes. oh and not to long for transfers. hope this helps although it probably doesn't rule out that many places.

hi, does anyone have any advise on where to book our next bording holiday for 09 season?

It's usually easiest to sit at home in front of your computer to book: that's the best place I reckon.

To be fair you did say you were confused. The main thing is, unless you really, really know where the best snow's going to be in 2009, then it's generally best to wait until it's actually fallen. There's no where which doesn't suffer from no-snow years, and really snow is more important than just about everything else for snowboarding.

As far as places to go... well pretty much anywhere's great if the snow's good.

Another vote here for Austria

Uber efficient
Costs are resonable (Think the opposite of France)
People are great, very friendly & helpful (Think the opposite of the French)
Everyone speaks english
Lots of short transfers
Pretty
Generally has a good snow record

France has awesome terrain, but I am not a huge fan, everything is hugely over priced everywhere! and the French are generally rude & ignorant with little to no manners!

I'd love to go back to Solvakia's Jasna resort to see what it's like with snow. When we (a group from GB) when Jan '07 there was bugger all snow there, but the booze was so cheap and there were so many of us the holiday was brilliant.

546 for a week half board

You can pretty much anywhere in Europe for that sort of money even 'expensive' Courchevel.. depends on when in the season you go.. I've had 350 hb deals in Courch in first week of Jan... Need more to go on..

Try and narrow it down for us by saying what you want/don't want, when in Jan/March (dates make a big difference) etc..
