I've always used lighter fuel myself. Not sure how much wax it takes off but I get a fair amount of coloured crap coming off my base with a quick wipe. Only a couple of quid from the corner shop as well.

That sounds a little abrasive to me... I need to get some wax remover, I don't really what to pay the apparently extortionate prices for branded cleaners but I don't want to get something that is gonna f*ck up my board either...

Might be worth trying that stuff u originally posted on an old board that you wouldn't mind doing a little bit of damage to...

not heard of that one and not sure how well perspex would absorb wax compared to a snowboard base (especially a sintered one),

Wasnt trying to do a direct comparison just thought it was the nearest thing to wax and see how well it was removed, also to see if it effected the plastic in any way.
Brass brush sounds like a good idea but surely there isnt really enough on there for a brush to remove.
Perhaps Im wrong but isnt the idea to get a very fine wax coating that can hardly be seen after scraping or should I be leaving more wax on?

When I got my new board the layer of wax was really really thin (you would hardly know any was on there), I presumed that this was the way the board should be after every waxing?

not heard of that one and not sure how well perspex would absorb wax compared to a snowboard base (especially a sintered one), but i have been told of various household alternatives such as white spirit, washing up liquid etc.

(lemon juice and white spirit don't mix by the way....i tired)

or just warm the base up with an iron and give it a quick wipe...should get rid of the worst of it.

  #1 Wax Remover  22/03/2007 @ 13:24:30
I have been looking at buying some wax remover to use on my board. When I looked into how to wax a board many write ups say "using a citrus cleaner remove the dirty wax". I have been looking at the standard "proper" wax remover but came across this stuff at work which is a citrus cleaner that is supposed to remove wax. http://desolvit.co.uk/pages/sticky_stuff_remover.htm it only costs £4.99 for 200ml so its cheaper than "proper" wax remover. I tried hot waxing a piece of perspex and then using it to see how well it removed the wax and it worked really well. It says that it can be used on plastics etc so should be ok. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried it.
