Having been turned back from the open Flégère lift, due to the fact they were brandishing snowboards, the unintimitaded protagonists of today's tale set sail for the fair waters of Le Tour. And how fair they turned out to be!

After an epic journey of approximately ten minutes via the nearby town of Argentière, throughout which subjects of car importation and extortionate lift pass pricing were tackled, Le Tour was finally gained, and judging by the fullness of the car park, was doing good business for a closed resort.

We subsequently walked up the hill to the midstation which took us well under an hour. I had crampons and KMC snowshoes, but I had the youth advantage so we were fairly evenly matched. Once we got to the midstation, we traversed around to the face beneath the liftline, ate a pear each and snowboarded back to the base. The snow was windbuffed light powder.

Sidenote; it was a lot more exciting than I've just made out, and touring with KMC rocks. Just didn't want you to feel bad if you've been sitting in an office all day.

I got off work at 1230 today. I did this, then was back at work at 1530 today. Lunchbreaks rock!

nice one Tom, what was the snow like up there? looks a little wind blown (or was it just pisted?) in places but how was it overall?

Found ourselves complaining about crusty powder today, then promptly smacked ourselves in the face for even daring to complain about riding lift accessed powder on the 17th November...

Hey Tom,here are a few of the photos I took.

You looking a little out of breath

Just near to the mid station

Then wading to the spot where we dropped in.

Looks like the Grand Montets will be open this weekend so we won't have to hike.
