Not like their job is full enough as it is, but maybe the mods can be more selective about what is approved for the gallery? Or is this just a bit too much of a pain in the a*se?

My point of view for what it's worth (as I don't have any pics at all on here).

If you have a collection of holiday snaps, which many of the shots are (I hope I'm not being too harsh), they should be offered via a web link to a site when you apply your signature to a post.

But if you have a good shot to share, and I browse the gallery frequently, then post it to your hearts consent. Just think about it before you down load. I'm not tring to be the photo police but there are some randon shots.

And as for the voting, maybe it is woth looking at, but I still like the photo of the week. Can it be done on a week to week basis on newly entered pics - maybe a weekly gallery (Sorry Starnzy )

Fair enough?

The ratings serve no purpose these days in my opinion, just as an incidental count of how many people have voted for them. POTW and the gallery on the front page has been dropped.

If the ranking stays, what should it be for? Picture content, humour, quality or "would I hang this on my wall"? Incidentally, the same argument goes around every year on Nfolio(photo critique site).

I note that the ones of female GB members on the slopes get higher votes and views - not sure why, I prefer pictures of piste bashers myself.

Glen, Im with you in that we probably dont need ratings and as you say someone might be well proud of their piccy and feel insulted that it is rated so lowely.
Would quite like to see a piccy of the week/month etc which we could all vote for. (The SCGB have a prize for the best photo each Month) maybe we could get a few Goneboarders each Month to select a few pics and then have a general vote !
Just a thought...

Not really mate, it's a culmination of several that have got to me.

However it does show that sometimes the ratings aren't based on the photo itself. The title might offend, but it has nothing to do with the actual picture. Another reason why the ratings should be abololished.

That was me, my finger slipped - was meant to be 1.5 for the swearing and poor spelling in the title.

Sorry if I've upset you.

Ok, so I've noticed it a fair few times now, that there are a lot of photographs that have been uploaded to the gallery which are getting very poor ratings. On a lot of these occassions the ratings that have been given are completely unnecessary, or very unfair. The latest of these is a picture of some abominable all in one a skier is wearing. Now for the whole fun factor of it, and the reason for it being submitted, and the general awfulness of the suit, it should be rated fairly well, but no, someone had rated it 1/5.

I have also noticed very low ratings for some nice pics of people on the slopes, or pics of scenery, which in my opinion were unfairly rated. The person that took the photos are probably very proud of them, and to have someone rate it as poor is probably quite insulting. I know the ratings are there for people to give their opinion, but honestly, why are the ratings even there at all? Do we need to know what people think of them? As like I say, it's really for people to share their experiences, and holiday photos. I think it's as pointless as the forum rankings, and should also therefore be removed as well. What are other people's opinions on this?
