I think they just converted $ price and not the price their asking over here. Anybody going to the states bring a box load back. |

Did anyone see the gadget show on Ch5 last night, Is the ATC2000 the same as the Video Camera that recorded to SD card, was completely waterproof, almost monocular in shape and was thrown out of a window into a pool of water by one of the presenters - They said it was ideal for outdoor sports enthusiasts - looks pretty good quality and from memory only cost £65. Can anyone correct me on this.?!confirm the price.....it seemed to good to be true. |

I've found a few other clips for anyone who is interested (it's hard to find raw footage though, as youtube compresses it quite a lot)
Mental cyclist
Remote control plane
Underwater - my fav
skiing
The skier didn't seem to have fixed it to his helmet very well, so it didn't turn out great. |

I bought the ATC-2000.
After looking at examples on you tube etc, I concluded that the quality isn't amazing or anything, but perfect for just messing around.
Wanted to add to this thread, because I ordered it at 2pm yesterday from www.actioncameras.co.uk, and received it at 9am this morning. Very impressive. So I'd highly recommend them - they seem to have quite a good range of products. They also answered my email question straight away.
Camera looks cool - have to keep reminding myself it's a present, and I can't rip it open and play with it. Should probably wrap it tonight, or there's no way I'll last until xmas!
Ta again, F. |

I've been looking at ATC-2000 reviews, and they suggest you'd get about 3 minutes out of the 32MB built in memory at the top resolution. But about 2 hours if you get a 2GB card. The price is adding up, but looks very tempting, still.
The US price is a lot lower, but I can't find anywhere that will ship tot he UK, or has it in stock, so far.
The nice people at actioncam answered my email about whether or not I'd get it in time for xmas pretty quickly, so looks like that might be the way to go. |

hmm That looks like something I might spend some of my bonus on...
640x480 @ 30fps - isnt that better than NTSC tv, so it should look good on a normal tv...
£160 and it come with some grease for the o-ring |

Oooh... Thanks, I though the Tony Hawk one was the only self contained cam on the market.
This is going to take some thought. |

Hi
Just been reading your thread and saw the tony hawk helmet cam mentioned.
I have been looking into getting one, but to be honest from the things i have read about them i would think you are better off looking at another alternative.
Apparently they only record at 15 frames per second......i dont know that much about cams etc but have seen some footage from a tony hawk and at best it looks a bit crap....slow and jerky.
Have a look at http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=20&scid=77&pid=709 this seems to be a better looking cam, bit more money but i guess you get what you pay for.
Hope you find what your looking for....and he gets his stocking filler. |

On ebay from america it looks like they are going for under £70.
Still pretty expensive, but I'm reasoning that I'll use it too sometimes, so I can only count half that as the proper "present value". Helps me sleep at night...

Where are you finding it cheap? I wouldn't call £100 a stocking filler. |

Ok, I've got AV out, and DC in sockets. Not going to happen then?
That Tony Hawks thing looks pretty good for just messing around though. It's a shame that I can't use have seperate cam and recording device (on my budget), so he could upgrade either part in the future. For a stocking filler, should be ok though.
Ta for the help. |

Fair point, pretty cheap on ebay too. Tempting!
Main downside is 30 minutes recording time before you'd need to transfer to a PC, which doesn't seem like a lot out of a week long holiday.
Probably would be the same on the camera too though, I guess, even if it does have AV input. Can always get another memory card too.
Probably more fun for days messing around in scotland than weeks away anyway.
Am making "subtle" inquiries into what camera we have to see if it has an AV input, because I can't find it on amazon (not sure I'd recognise it if I did). I think it's Sony, but beyond that |
