#1 Snozone (MK) vs. Snowdome (Tam) ? 30/06/2009 @ 16:42:51 |

|
I just wondered how the Snozone in MK compares to the Snowdome in Tam? I live fairly close to Tam so it's an obvious choice and the only slope I've been to in the UK but thought it might be nice to have the occasional venture elsewhere.
Snozone looks like it's a wider slope although without any turns like the Snowdome? How do they compare for general riding? |

My two cents:
The snow at both MK and Tam is crap so I would be going to whichever is closer.
I much much much much prefer the lifts at MK - The travelator at Tam does my bloody head in. I end up on the rope tow which means you only get about 30m of slope.
Are you into freestyle nights at all or just after some turns? Either way, both are excellent options considering they are right on our doorstep!

Tam all the way.
Yeah the snow isn't the best at Tam but if you can ride there you can ride anywhere. |

Cheers guys, I've not really progressed enough for freestyle nights just yet, I'll get a bit more practise with ollies and kickers first I think.
I've found the snow at Tam to be a bit hit & miss, I went recently and it was really good (relatively, not a patch on the real thing obviously) but then on Saturday I went and it was mostly ice.
I guess I just need to put up with it by the sounds of it! |

| Forget MK and Tam, go the extra stretch and go to Hemel, You cannot fault the snow there! |

| Not been to tam but been to mk and hemel and yeah i`d say the snow is far better at hemel than mk but i`d say hemel slopes needs abit of shape to it,the last time i went to hemel which was 3 wks ago the slope was plain and boring,it could do with maybe a couple of medium size kickers and maybe a rail of some sort,i`m not triyng to make it like a freestyle night but just give you something else to do as it gets abit boring just riding up and down the slope. |

| I can agree with that, although I'm fairly new to the sport so haven't attempted any kickers or rails just yet. They did have a small kicker and some boxes laid out on the training slope but I think that was in prep for the freestyle session in the evening and was blocked off. |

| To be fair, the snow at Hemel is good at least 75% because the place has only just opened, vs Tam which has been open since when, 1992ish?? |

Cheers for the responses, Tam will always be my 'local' slope but I'd quite like to try out a few others so sounds like Hemel is the one to go to! |

I agree. Tam snow is VERY hit and miss. I go up there at least once a week. How often do they actually add snow to the slope ?
Most times it seems to be just mush that's just melted and reformed and flattend. Then thats left overnight and then you've got solid ice and that don't half hurt when you take a fall compared to when the slope is on a good day !
I've also to been to CFE a few times and their snow is of much better quality but then again they are a relatively new slope like Hemel.
I'd still rather go to Tam though as it's closer and you can have a good craic with the peeps. Oh and the deals they do are quite good too. |
