First Decent is probably more of a rent for a newcomer. It's not bad, but 30 minutes of solid stoke is better than 100 minutes of pseudo storyline with scattered moments of good shred, in my opinion.

SnowBunny83, look for discounted DVD's online. Pirating and illegal downloading of snowboard videos has lead to a 75% decrease in DVD sales from 5 years ago, and that's definitely not helping the top notch crews stay in business to give us the stoke year in and year out. Ebay usually has the best selection of films for below retail, including some of these older ones.

A nice alternative might be Child Support. It just came out and I haven't seen it, but my friend says it has a similar feel to Lame and DC MTN LAB. It's available for download for only 2.99 (USD). It can be found here: http://www.defectivefilms.com/.

If I cant get hold of many I might have to ask my dad to see if he can download me
some of the ones that you lot have told me about.

I will let you know which ones I can get hold of and if I enjoyed them or not, which hopefully I will
and if you can think of anymore let me know.

Cheers sam

fatbob - Afterbang is ebay-only now, since it's been out of print for years. I've seen it go for as much as 50USD there, but sometimes you can get lucky. (I got mine new earlier this year there for 20USD.)

Snowbunny83, DC MTN LAB, Lame and Afterlame are all a couple seasons old, so they probably won't be at your local shop, but they should be cheaper than retail online.

Good luck, and let us know what you get and what you think of 'em!

hey,

check your local boardstore, they normally have a few in stock. for the slightly older ones you may have to get online. check out Onboard and Whitelines mags too, they often have dvds on the cover.
definatley get 91 words for snow, Afterbang by Robot Food too; t'was the first snowboard film i ever saw and i still love it!

If you want all-out superfun, stoke-inducing riding, get DC MTN LAB, Afterlame or Lame.

If you're into burly, backcountry freestyle with riders pushing the envelope, get any video by Absinthe Films.

If you're into big name riders going huge and high production values, get any recent DVD by Mack Dawg Productions.

I agree with rubberbuggy that Standard Films' Draw the Line (and the previous season's Paradox) are beautiful. There's so much slo-mo though, that it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Excellent films though.

If you dig jibs and really creative shredding, get last season's Patchwork Patterns. It has a killer soundtrack and some of the most inventive things I've seen on a snowboard in years, all with a really high energy feel. Lots of rails, but crazy creativity.

By the looks of your profile, it sounds like you're just starting off. I'd go with DC MTN LAB, Afterlame or Lame. Those three get me more excited to shred than nearly any other film. If you want an all-girls shred flick that has the same vibe but still has impressive riding, get Ro Sham Bo.

It kind of depends what you"re into.

Personally I'm a big fan of Lame, which nice and long and showcases a lot of different talented riders, with some awesome tunes.

Also anything by Standard Films, they have a good mix of big mountain powder destruction and some more kicker orientated stuff. Their photogra;hy is also amazing. Last season"s effort "Draw The Line" is beautiful.

Mack Dawg Productions (MDP) make some pretty sweet all rounder vids too, good rail sections, good jumps. Love "From ___________ with Love"

Oh, would also recommend "91 Words for Snow". Kind of lifestylee and snowboardy.

None of those should be too hard ot get your paws on.
