Ive made them up from completly different tricks in the past you can never tell its a different trick tho... |

Ive got a d70 aswell jonny and its nice knowing i will be able to produce sequence shots similar to that, as i quite liked it  |

| I really like the composition of that sequence, the circular effect of the stages is so diffent from the usual linear stuff you normally see on rail sequences |

I know you didn't want comments on the photoshoping but I'm going to anyway 
If you want to get a nice tight selection zoom right in and use the pen tool to draw a path around the person/image. Then in the paths window choose "load path as selection"
When you are reinserting the person/image add about 1.5-2.0 pixels of Gaussian blur to get rid of the just cut out look. |

well here's one of my early attempts at sequence shots (sorry if it's a bit big... and no comments on the dodgy photoshopping of the 3rd or 4th pic).
Taken using a Nikon D70, just on 'sports' mode (the missus did a photog course and the instructor reckoned that modern cameras are so good you shouldn't need to worry about the manual settings - not sure I entirely agree...)

| Practice using the manual settings on your camera. Like the others have said increase your F Stop for greater depth of field, increase the shutter speed and manually focus. Increasing the shutter speed and f stop reduces the exposure though so it's a question of compromise, ideally you want to have some flashes to make up for this. |

Rather than getting the kicker in focus if you get someone to stand on the top of it and get them in focus you'll have a more accurate focal point for you sequence, also moving further away often helps with autofocusing cameras as the longer zoom often increases the depth of field.
As has already been said increasing your depth of field will also do the trick if you can work out how to do it, should be able to view an online manual at the manufacturers website.
Shutter speed doesnt directly affect your focus, you'll need super fast shutter speed anyway as the target is moving really quick. |

| Yeah, a faster shutter speed will also be needed to capture rapid motion in focus. Try 1/500 of a second and faster. |
