http://www.santacruzsnowboards.com/boards/board.php?family=gd_kooley

thar it is, i ride it all mountain i.e piste/park i have ridden it in powder but nothing too deep obviously.

great board imo and got a good wood award from transworld which is always a bit of proof

Edit: btw i had the gian simmen model but its pretty much the same anyways (wider waist tho which i needed), the kooley one looks better tbh.

Interesting as I have had my santa cruz since 2003 and have never had any problems with it. I suppose it might be more of a recent problem.

nope, i got my death angel last season and a tt pro last season no problems with either

So might be best to try something else when I replace it next season.

Think it's a recent thing.
A friend of mine used to run a shop that sold boards and gave me some info on Santa Cruz.
Seems like Santa Cruz changed the way (or the factory) the boards were made 2 or 3 seasons ago

I have a 04/05 Santa Cruz GD (bought from the guy mentioned above) and it's been a good solid board (manufactured by Volkl BTW).
The problems seemed to start from 06 on.
It's all going downhill.......

Bit of a sweeping statement, what spread of the market are you basing that on? They sell huge amounts in the US, and I know of people that own them and have never had a problem with them.

Face to Face in Alpe d'Huez and Labo Shop in Bourg St. Maurice both have had over 50% warranty rate on Santa Cruz over the past 2-3 seasons. When Concept still stocked Santa Cruz in Les Arc 1950 their warranty rate was just as high. My locals in the US don't stock them anymore for the same reason.

I have a couple friends that ride them and like them (probably because they keep getting replacements- call it Burton syndrome), but I wasn't too impressed with the Kooley I demoed last season.

Buy one if you want. It's your money.

QUOTE (Grill - 10/08/2008 @ 08:37:13)

Santa Cruz makes one of the most unreliable boards on the market. Their warranty rate is ridiculous. Some people swear by them, but I don't think they ride any better than anything Elan offers.

my santa cruz death angel is sweet, its been through the wars this season and is still ticking over nicely. no problems with it after some serious abuse, and it rides extremely nice for the price. i dont see why grill has such a problem with them

elan boards are pretty horrible imo thought, well the one i tried a couple of years ago was.
