Right - so I cannot fault Saalbach's slope conditions, lift system or runs!
Had a great weekend, slopes were empty and considering it's end of season there was not a patch of ground coming through. Had a foot of snow Monday and didn't see anyone else on the slope for the first hour and then barely a sole after so lots of powder to play in as the piste bashers couldn't work fast enough! |

Really liked Hinterglem as well, great variety of pistes (not that we bothered with many of them )
Saalbach - at the top of the Schattberg Express (great name) was some amazing off-piste to the left. So deep birds where popping out of the the snow squaking like bonkers |

Ah, you should have stayed My mate stayed an extra day and said even more bloomin' powder has fallen, but they closed half the mountain yesterday because of high winds - it's meant to snow even more as well, the lucky buggers! |

All I can say is WOW
JUst finished up my 4th and last day on the hill. Have had FOUR powder days in a row, mainly from a combination of amazing weather (it's been snowing more or less none stop since I got here Thurs night) and the fact the Austrians mainly ski and rarely leave the pistes. Nutters the lot of them. The result has been fresh tracks and monster powder every day. Big grins all round - and it's forecast to snow most of the week as well, so anyone arriving in the morn as I leave are in for a treat
Four of the best days I've had in eight years of riding. If you've got some spare days this week and want a last minute trip, get out to Saalbach |

I think you will rate it - it's my fave resort in Austria and nightlife aside, I think better than Mayrhofen. The joint area your pass covers you for is vast and loads of varied runs with plenty of powder to sides on many of them and through some trees under lifts. Hope you enjoy it, post a response when back. Only downside is that it's not the cheapest of resorts |
