Have Madisons, love them.
Have a cut-and-pasted answer of mine to a similar post to yours, I can't be arsed to type it out again so please just ignore irrelevant bits! And ask if there's something I didn't mention you want to know.
Yep, got this season's Rome Madisons and I LOVE them. Super comfy ankle strap, the rubber toe strap works great - have been using it cap-strap style and found it stays put much better than other cap straps I've tried, and if for some reason you don't get on with cap straps it'd work exactly like a normal toe strap with no problems. You can crank the straps up pretty tight and they're still comfortable which I like, no pressure points on them. Ratchets work nicely and they're quick to get on and off. They only come in one size so they're super adjustable - my UK8.5 Salomon Kianas fit perfect with it adjusted to the biggest size so you should have no problems with size 7 boots. I find them really responsive and like the medium flex, work nicely for me in the park (well, I'm pretty rubbish but it's definitely not the fault of the bindings!) and attempting to do flatland stuff as well as for blasting down the piste or wallowing about in powder in the trees.
I also demoed the Salomon Relay Pro women's bindings, which I found really uncomfortable - the ankle strap is very stiff and I got uncomfortable pressure points with it, and the toe strap kept shifting from cap strap to normal toe strap position which was irritating; the Burton Lexa which I found just didn't feel quite right, although my sister likes hers, and I think the pair I demoed was slightly too small; and the Burton Mission which again I found just wasn't quite right, didn't feel as responsive or as comfortable as the Rome ones (this was for a day after I'd been riding my Romes for a week and OMG I missed them so much!). I actually didn't demo the Rome bindings before I bought them, I just tried them on in the shop and they instantly seemed to fit my boots better than the others, I liked the rubber toe strap, and I'd had several people recommend them to me very highly. I wasn't disappointed, did I mention that I LOVE my bindings?
Far as I can tell, the Struts are pretty similar to the Madisons, but with a bit less spangly new tech and they weigh a little more.
FWIW, I have them on a Forum Craft which I don't think is dissimilar to the VVV. |
