Brilliant Craig.
I was just testing the water just now but come next Spring we can hopefully put a little trip together. I have wanted to head to Riks for years but never seem to get round to it so 2008 sounds as good a time as any to get there.

Riksgransen has been on my 'to do' list for a while now. Almost went a couple of years ago but discovered the lifts were only running at weekends at that point (good job the people from the hotel pointed that out or we'd have been a bit miffed!).
Not sure whether I've already allocated all my holiday away for next year though

There are direct flights Edinburgh to Tromso, but if you're doing a road trip, surely the travelling be that by train or car is part of the holiday.

3500 km drive from my house. Autoroute reckons 5 days but I'm thinking 3.

It is a seriously long train ride up Sweden- but so much nicer that driving it (which I have done several times!) Depending on when you go it is Norwiegen National Day on May 17th so that is sometimes worth a trip over the boarder if you are close enough.
All I need is a ball and a wall, or a sledge board and a hill in heavy weather!

Pencil me in as a 50/50. I'd love to go to this place.

I've got a friend from Stockholm who might be interested in tagging along as well - it'd save us having to learn any of the lingo (and she has lots of fit friends if we want a night out in Stocky).

I could cry- I wish I could go to Sweden, I love it there. My Formor Emma was from Overtornea on the Swedish/Finnish boarder.
One of my dreams is to stay in the Ice Hotel one year, but that will be a long way off.
Good luck in finding someone to go with you.

Im setting my stall out early for Riksgransen 2008.
I want to get a Gb trip sorted for late May next year.
Plan would be to meet up in Stockholm and get the train North and spend 4 or 5 nights in the Riksgransen Hotel then return to Stockholm. Another possibility is to fly to Kiruna.
I wont be booking anything until I come back from the US/Canada in early March but I would like to get an idea of who might be interested in this trip and on any thoughts/ideas as to what might be the best way to do it.

Hi Ben Mo, welcome to Goneboarding.

Riksgransen has been in my plans for the last 2 or 3 seasons but ive still not got round to it. My plan was to go out around May by getting a flight to Stockholm and taking the train to Kiruna and spending some time in the Riksgransen Hotel.
Thought it would happen this season but ive already commited to a few trips and cant fit it in as im back out to France in the first week of May for the end of season at Argentiere......maybe next year.
