#1  Recommend a peaked helmet for my XL head??  Posted 07/03/2010 @ 14:16
Since my current helmet (Red Hifi XL) took a hard whack to the back Ive been thinking of replacing it. I fancy one with a peak e.g. Red Mutiny, Bern Baker etc.. but seem to be limited by my massive head.

Ive got a 62cm head so need XL for Red and XXL for Bern which rules out Bern Baker EPS Foam (only do the hard hat in XXL). Was trying to keep it below £60 - can anyone help? Going away in 3 weeks.

Oh, and I only want something in black or grey etc. (no white or mental colours - my head looks big enough!!!)

Hmm, they do look good, but expensive from what I can find. I assume all Smith helmets in a L will be suitable then?

No, depending on the shape (such as the Holt and Maze) you'll need XL.

Too pricey tho mate (see above). Unless you know of a deal?

Especially as I just bought a K2 Parkstar 30mins ago! Searching for snowboard gear is financially hazardous!!

I can recommend the Red Mutiny. As always, the disclaimer is that helmet fit is a personal thing blah blah blah, but my melon is pretty big but I've found the mutiny to be all day comfortable. Really fancy trying one of those Ruroc full face helmets, but it's a lot of money to blow without being able to try it on first.

Very nearly went for the Red Mutiny, but eventually went for a Giro Revolver. Looks cool and only £56!!

Apparently the goggle clip has a bottle opener integrated into it. Wierd.

I fit a Holt XL nicely, my head measures less than 63cm's.... Tried the Variant Brim and it in no way fits at all (far too small).... It has a bike helmet type adjustment which just doesnt work for me.

Make sure you try before you buy!!
