Anybody coming to this thread now, please just read this first post then skip to post #50, otherwise you will become confused! All interim posts relate to a previous holiday plan! Cheers.

Okay, let me hit you with this one......... Option 2:

A week away with Ski Weekends, a company I went away with last year. It's a coach/Eurostar trip to Brides le Bain, the town just below Meribel. It leaves from Victoria station on 1st January, and you actually get 7 days on the slopes. You can upgrade to executive seats for about £25 which gives you mega leg room and comfy seats. It's half board, so you get breakfast and dinner included in that. So all you really need are beer tokens and lift pass.

The price? £199! I know! Insane. Okay, here are the pro's and cons:

Pro's
- Just after new year. What better way to forget about going back to work.
- Half Board.
- No arranging to get flights and transfers.
- £199!
- 7 pretty much full days on the slopes.
- Club hotel with it own bar and free Wifi.
- Access to Three Valleys, one of the biggest areas in Europe.

Con's
- Coach travel. A bit 'marmite'. I personally loved it.
- Straight on the slopes from the coach and straight on it again after the last day. Although I liked this too.
- Hotel is functional and some of the food can be described as such too.
- It's in Brides. Nightlife is limited. Unless you are rich, you ain't getting to Meribel etc, although with a big group, you could take over a bar for the night and probably be treated like kings.
- The lift to Meribel base takes 30 minutes. Again, didn't bother me because I'm up early. Lot's of people also talk about the last lift, although it's at half four! I'm normally cooked by that point.

So, what do people think. I've come close to booking this a few times already and have held back from putting it on here for fear that it may raise awareness amongst others to such an extent that I would miss out.

Any more info required, give me a shout.

crikey that's a bit of a steal! I was originally planning on waiting on something last minute, but I know I spent at least that amount on my last last-minute trip anyway...

sign me up!

does it include flights? not very clear from how they've worded it...

Can't believe some people have a social diary for next January already!

C, I think the line "Scheduled flights to Nice" pretty much wraps up the debate about whether flights are included.

And the other important bit of information (although this may be bunkum) is that they said in the same e-mail that tour operators will be taking up less beds this year as they will worry about selling them, so there will be less last minute deals and prices may go up. How would people like to say end of February 2010 as a starter?

I generally go away with the lads in December, so a bit more space would be good for me between holidays. May even be able to get anotehr one in in-between.

damn you Mike! I'm not going to Canada next season and it makes me want to cry/hit people when they mention they're going...

anways... yeah, avoiding half terms would be good.... bear in mind that the UK half terms are all over the place now, as are the French, German and Italian!
