Wildebeast, you shoud take a look at thecus,
I have the n2100 which is pretty awesome, but now they do an an n299 which has practily the same feature set but for under a 100 squid.
They take sata drives and do all sorts of whizzy stuff as they run a chopped down embedded linux...

Has anyone used Spry or Ajax?

Just got a legit (Yes, legit!) copy of Design CS3 Pro and wondered what people had done with it to date.

PS - If you're using CS3 with Vista SP1 be prepared for your associations for .psd and .jpg to be wiped!

Thanks Dan, that's worked a treat

For some reason it didn't like resolving the name through a proxy server, so added it to the exceptions list & created a rule on the firewall and now it works, wahoooo

Hi Timay, DNS is normally hostname to IP address, so you should just need to create a new forward lookup zone for the site's domain, e.g. if the site is http://www.bingo.gov.uk, create a new forward lookup zone of bingo.gov.uk and create an A record in there for www.bingo.gov.uk which points to the IP address of the site. From that point on, anyone should be able to access the site via the hostname.

Apologies if I've misunderstood you and this is barking up the wrong tree/teaching granny to suck eggs, if so, let me know.

Cheers

After a bit of DNS advice this time.....

I've been asked to create an internal DNS entry on our network for an external site that isn't registered on any internet DNS server (secure government website)

I have had a look around on our DNS servers (Windows Server 2003 running Microsoft DNS) but I can't seem to fund anywhere to relate an IP address to a host name.

The site works via the IP address, which normally wouldn't be an issue- I'd just get the users to use that, but there is an application that runs along side this which users the host name to retrieve information.

Does anyone know how to set this up on a DNS server? I've not had a lot of experience with DNS

Is anyone running NAS?

any thoughts on this? - http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/ReadyNASDuo/RND2150.aspx

Not too bothered about wifi as my router is about 6inches from where it will be situated!

Unlike the SC101 I've not seen any bad reviews or experiences whilst running Vista and a DG834GT 54MB router / WG311T PCI cards (potentially going to N when the quality stabilises and price comes down a tab).

there not bugs in vista they are "features"...
my favourite feature of vista is the downgrade to xp disc or the boot alternate os from cd feature...

I didn't actually, I was taking photographs of people. It was portraiture this week.

One of my colleagues, who like me is a total geek pointed me in the direction of five.tv
